Biggest problem for me was after playing 5-6 seasons was that there was little incentive to change anything up. The F2 and F3 drivers didn't progress so no need to worry about new drivers shaking up the grid so it became god mode eventually. hopefully the new F2/F3 progression changes that up. Otherwise I don't think there's a lot they needed to change, I sunk a ton of time into manager 2022, just keep adding features.

Totally agree with the social aspect. I would love to see an AI-driven social media feed in the game plus reactions from the drivers to you, the mechanics, each other and anything that's cropped up in the news. Good review, this is what I was hoping for too and if it isn't here I'm not interested.

THIS SHOULDNT BE A YEARLY RELEASE!!! F1 is a yearly game because of driver changes, track changes and the most important online servers. F1 manager does not deserve to be a yearly game. I will not be buying this one.

They need to make money somehow. People don’t realize how much work and money are put into these games. With the improvements added it would be wayyyyy too large to make into a DLC. If they just wanted to update the drivers then that’s one thing but last years game lacked any replay ability. I think the 70$ is worth the improvements (especially when team changing come this September)

The "would *driver* let another *insert rival teammate driver* through" when given the command is a fantastic point, that would be fun in the future, having to keep your teammates happy with each other. Great review.

My biggest problem was that a casual gamer (me) that can't really play a game for more than 1 hour just couldn't finish races or make perfect set ups. I wish for them to add A shorter race distance and a save while in the race feature in the racing side of things, while adding an easier way for developing car parts /perfecting setups .

A super expensive DLC, and then some fixes that should have been in the first version. Their thinking must be way off when they make a manager game for career in a hyped sport as F1 and not handle the manager part better. Now they make it possible to change team during a save, how could they leave that out in the first ??? Is the game set to play 5-6 seasons ???? With nothing happening among the F2,F3 drivers I think that's what they aimed for. I wish they look more on the old Motorsport Manager game. It is miles ahead of this on all but graphics. Perhaps some years down the road they get it right, if big F1 fans still keep buying every year so they make money. After all the price is damn high and if that was maybe OK the first version, but not on this meager improved 2nd version. Please developers do look at FM too, not only Motorsport Manager. You could have a winner if you go the extra mile.

Has anyone noted you get no penalty from using a single type of tyre in a race? I saw a car going mid mid and tried it myself to confirm it. Hoping this and the constant cold tires comm at the start of FP gets patched

Hi, your review lacks the race simulation part. Last year one of the major issues was there (DRS trains, AI not pushing and always on the same line, tires degradations not realistic...) I read here and there it was improved this year, but also watched a review saying it didn't...

ive broken the cost cap every single season, ive made it to season 2 once in 5 attempts and that was thanks to a brain baby i had that help me get 6th in the constructors with mclaren getting landos first win, would of been 5th or 4th if oscar got more than 2 points compared to landos 75.... i sacked him and got alonso season 2 at miami ive had 2 podiums one lando one alonso and double points every race. loving the new game

After three races, is 95% the same game as last year... I can bet you can even trick somebody by letting them play one race in f1 22 and the other in 23 and they would be just slightly confused by the drivers options menu in race week. I'm a bit disappointed, the game it's not cheap.

There is technically some ai social aspect as in my case Yuki hated his race engineer and I could intervene or acknowledge the situation give different results and the situation eventually recovered.

The biggest problem with 22 was it was too bloody easy. You just spam the underfloor devlopment and hey presto williams are competitive after 12 months. So boring There is no meaningful sponsor negotiation, no engine negotiation, no impact of these influences on what driver is in the car, you can’t change the livery or run your own team. It sucks

@@grunnertv4086 I'll chip in as well, as I was so hyped after waiting over 20 years on a new licensed managergame... - Bugs that never got fixed - Little dynamics on track, there was a lot of hard-coded stuff - Abondonment of the game early. - Driver development being non-existant. Better to not sign a driver you want as a reserve, as the driver would gain more in F2 (just hope the driver didn't retire...) - Severe lack of actualy management-things to do. Where's the negotiations? Where is the sponsors? Suppliers? - No personalities. - Races being very much the same again and again. Didn't ever feel like something could happen. - Awful replayability I mean. EA's F1 Manager was a buggy mess that never even got a patch. But the races were somehow a bit interesting as anything could happen (even without SC, Red flags and rain!). There you also changed sponsors etc. Some that actually could make some colordifferences on the car. GPW had what I would say, the best supplier and sponsor negotiation system in any F1/Racing management game. You put staff on it, paid for hospitality, and made negotiations that way. You could negotiate with a fuel/lubricant supplier, get a contract, but not sign it. Keep bringing the company to VIP stuff at races, and work your way to a works contract, where you could make decisions on further development of the product to make it fit your car and engine. However, other teams might do the same, and you'd lose out on the chance. This was the same with tyre and engine suppliers as well (I know that it wouldn't work with tyres today). Sponsors as well, spend time with them, and they might increase the support, but you may also lose the sponsor to a different team. The game also had a tyre supplier, engine supplier and fuel/lubricant supplier that could enter as a new supplier. Drivers could get injured. Very rare, but it could happen. GPM2 didn't have suppliers that could randomly join, but had a list of suppliers, some that weren't involved, and thus could be new and join in. Three could also be anywhere between 10 and 13 teams in a season. Teams could join, and teams could go bankrupt. Drivers could get ill, or injured in testing and racing. So the reserve driver actually mattered. GPM2 and GPW also had pay drivers, just like real life. In real life. 2018 is the only F1 season in history where all teams and drivers have been entered in the same cars all season long. 2008 also had no mid-season driver changes, but Super Aguri went bust. It may be just a one-off driver change like in the 2000 season, where Luciano Burti replaced Eddie Irvine after FP2, and that was the only change that year. Or it can be as crazy as 1994 where 46 drivers shared 28 seats, and out of those 46 drivers, 2 drivers drove for two teams and Johnny Herbert for 3(!). That would be madness in modern times, but the point still stands. Unless you as a player does a mid-season change, nothing changes at all. That's utterly unrealistic. Illnesses and injuries are a part of the sport.

Is the AI as stupid as last year strategy wise ? Because that's the most important part... everything else doesn't mean anyhing if the AI is still so stupid that the player can win 50+ races in a row because they always make at least one more pit stop than necessary, or don't pit for new tires under SC, or stay in the garage in qualifying when rain is predicted in 2 minutes and so on...

The only problems I’ve had with the game so far is the pit stop incident are WAY too frequent and would ruin the realistic feel for the game. Racing simulation has improved a lot. I am not a fan of the new “racing lines” they take it just looks like they are swerving around the track and doesn’t look real hopefully they can fix this issue by full launch. Overall really great to see frontier listening to there fan base and making improvements and not just copy and pasting games like EA with there entries. Excited to see changing teams come in September and really spice things up.

I think it's already a failure. F1 Manager 22 peak was 25K on steam. F1 Manager 23 peak is at 6.5K, granted it has only been a few days but I don't think it will go much higher. I doubt it will even get remotely get close to 25K peak. It's a game that definitely doesn't require a yearly installment. It should probably be one title that pushes big content updates thru DLC. It's the same game with sprinkles of new content that doesn't justifiy a completely new game. Like Madden that adds features that they already had to be the same piece of garbage that it has been for a decade + "Field Sense" lol

Aside from graphics, this game is and remains profoundly inferior to f1 management games of 20-30 years ago and that feels.. insane. There is no depth, no actual management worth the name. Its all about the race sim, a race sim which if its realistic, will eventually become a dull time waste 9 laps out of 10. Its like being a night shift worker in a factory. You dont have to do much, but you have to maintain focus to do it. Thats bad game design. Yes, its a simplistic view on what race engineers do but its their JOB. Its also insulting the game makes you oay for two race engineers who then do nothing, as you take over. Older games realised that watching a real race and playing a video game are NOT the same, and so they gave you a meaty mangement sim away from the track. This barely has that and until it does, the player numbers will not be stable.

Still the same bugs in the game as in '22. That's my review. If a dev doesn't clean out KNOWN bugs and just releases another game with the same bugs in it, you know what they think of you. That you are a bag of money, nothing else.
