Awesome video. I changed how I practice this past week and it has really paid off. First, run as many laps as necessary to get familiar with the track. Depends if it's your favorite track or first time. Then setup a 2 car 10 min. race. I use 100% aggression and start the opponent at 80% skill. You have to follow the car for all laps and only pass on the last lap. I do multiple 10 min. races until I can easily stay with the car and also practice different overtake scenarios (still without actually overtaking). When it becomes comfortable, move the opponent skill level up by 3%. It's hard to stay close enough to the car in front so that you can pass on the last lap. Particularly in carrying enough speed on corner exit. It also takes a lot of self control and patience. Interleave some AI races thru the session. I use 20 min races.

I recently started my journey to find the reason why I loose 2,5 sec to the aliens. Hotlap challenges are a good indicator of pace. The agressive setup might use brake balance 62% but the fast guys are using something like 55% that enables them to brake much later. I think my main problem is braking... I need to trail brake.
@AtMyOwnPace103 жыл бұрын
Braking later with lower brake bias seems flipped. Less bias means less braking power to the front which gets the most grip when braking. So I stand by it, 95 or more of the aliens are using hacks
@lassealbrecht31453 жыл бұрын
@@AtMyOwnPace10 Think about ABS. In principle ABS cuts off braking power when too much braking force is applied. The more balanced the brake bias is, the better all tyres will be slowed down individually. When you have too much bias on the front, the movement of the rear tyres isn't intervened as much when braking, resulting in longer braking distance. So in theory 50% would be optimal, but you know, that can make the rear end way more loose than you would like. So you need to find a good compromise between stopping power and control over the car.

Reading the telemetry and adjust the car settings during the race are the two most important things in the sim racing games. And let's not forget about practice...practice the hell out of the car you want to race with and also the tracks you want to race on. Eventually you will get there :). It is a slow learning curve, but once you get all the things you need to do, you will start to enjoy it even more. At first I was shit, I did not even like what I was doing but I said to myself...dude...you are not a pro from the first minute you are putting your hands on a wheel...even if I drive for more than 20y, sim racing is way more different. But after all the struggle, it became a fun place to go to sooo, hand tight and practice :)

I really have trouble getting telemetry like Motec to work. I'm most probably just doing it wrong or downloading the wrong file. Please make one!

It is challenging to practice race craft with other cars in ACC due to the behavior of AI cars. In ACC, AI drivers tend to brake too much and too early, which is not commonly seen in human drivers. Therefore, using AI in ACC can lead to developing bad habits.

Why you dont talk about hardware, i have to race with Momo Racing of 270º and potenciometer pedals against load cell brakes and DD wheels, now someone will say i knew a guy with old hardware that won races...if you can please send me the link of a simracer streaming and having good results at todays times with a Momo Racing Wheel, potenciometer pedals and a 970gtx car or similar. Nobodys fault that im poor and have to play like this but good hardware is also important...i could try all day for years that i cant get that second behind the aliens... For example in Brand Hatchs i do 1:24 high i can never get to 1:23 with this hardware, Monza only 1:49 and i race for several years those times are after lots and lots of practice. Im not as good as Jardier or others but it looks to me that is important to have a good hardware.
@OverTake_gg2 жыл бұрын
Of course, in simracing there are limitations due to the hardware available. But the tip "buy better equipment" would be pretty weak, wouldn't it? 😄
@ricardopires47132 жыл бұрын
@@OverTake_gg Yes, but what he could have said that sometimes we get different performances due to different equipment. Being competitve when everyone uses a PS5 or Xbox controller is due to training and skill of the person playing but in simracing with so much variables sometimes we cant get near the top.

@@r6scrubs126 I didn't suggest that you could, it's just that he's acting like it was supposed to be a relatable experience to practice that much. It's just that most people watching this are probably not in a situation where they have 20 hours or more of freetime a week.
