I detested Sen. Kennedy (R. La) grilling judge candidates on Sections of the Constitution about separation of powers (Articles 1, 2, 3). I'm a retired attorney and was required to take 2 Constitutional Law courses as school. You know how many times those articles came up? Zero! Because they are rarely litigated and if they do it is usually by the DC Federal District court. Knowledge of the Constitution is overrated, although in the US schools should do a better job of teaching students basic rights.

@@rabbit251 While I do have a rudimentary and fundamental understanding of the constitution, I have actually read id, studies aspect and just as importantly understand the historical and racial turmoil that was occurring during the creation of some of these laws/amendments. The meticulous way he worked with the ink when getting his fountain pen prepared for writing was just so riveting. The thing I respected most about Inglorious Basterds was that Tarantino wrote the German officers as very formidable adversaries. They weren't portrayed as "dummkopf", such as Sgt. Schultz in Hogan's Heroes TV series about WWII POW camp. By the way, Hogan's Heroes was based on the movie Stalag 17, and that movie was much more serious than the ensuing TV series, but I digress... The Germans in Basterds were clever and cunning. Well written. When the Americans outwit the very clever foe, it makes their victory all the more satisfying. Kudos to Tarantino for giving us much tension in that regard. Hans Landa being the most terrifying of all of them.

A painfully photoshopped _child_ with MrBeast looking on like it's one of his "hand on a car" videos. His family is rich, he didn't earn his fame as much as buy it. True philanthropy would be letting the people themselves decide what to do with donations, not creating clickbait headlines and videos for popularity and views. It only makes me mad at our medical system and everyone who doesn't want to change a *for profit* medical system that people who need simple cataract surgery cannot even get it and internet celebrities get to exploit their recovery.

Love the bookends - Christoph and Ari. My Hubbie and adult children can’t get over the fact that “Inglorious Basterds” is one of my top 5 favourite movies, but Christoph is absolutely mesmerizing in it (he TOTALLY deserved that Oscar). The guy is unbelievably committed to his character. Great Actor. I appreciate Ari’s work in trying to get the truth to the masses - and I think he does a great job. Unfortunately he works in an industry that loves sound bites, and he often has guests on who don’t get nearly enough time to make / discuss their point.

Why we have a system that is letting down thousands when it should be a readily affordable proceeded. While Mr Beast does not have to be political, he's kind of not addressing half the problem. There is a fine line with social media, between doing something to genuinely help someone, and doing it for the content and clicks, and it can be easy to claim as much as he's helping, he's creating poverty porn. I completely agree, as someone who was born normal, like the majority of people, and have been blind for the last 5+ years so I have been on both sides of the spectrum, it wouldn't make sense to say don't get a procedure or surgery done for that reason, if you lost your legs in a terrible accident, and you had the capability to restore the legs through surgery, why would you tell that person not to do it? If it is a means to improve their lives; I don't agree with the literacy comment though, because if you understand and aware of it, you can put effort toward it to "fix" it, money isn't really an issue, but when it comes to medical situations, especially things are kind of more of a one-way street, maybe not in a case of Cataracs, but the other visual impairment problems like what I have, we just don't have that technology yet, and we probably won't for another 80 to 100 years

I'm an American living in Japan where the "retirement age" is generally 60. The company hires you back part-time for 5 years in which most struggle as their pension won't start until 65. I'm now a "retired" teacher / lawyer at 59. When the pandemic hit my company (Hitachi) had to let people go and I got unlucky. (I used to prep workers heading overseas about laws, customs, psychology and English they would experience. During the pandemic, no need for that). I currently substitute at a school near me, but mostly I babysit the students. I have huge amounts of knowledge on history and English (the subjects I taught back in the US), but no one will hire me here now because of my age. One class I subbed for last week was a business class. With the teacher gone they were suppose to write down vocabulary they didn't know. I noticed one word was redundancy. I pointed out to the students that this was a British usage and Americans would never use it like that in business. All the students wrote it down. I found out that their teacher, British, didn't even know that Americans didn't use the word like that. He taught a couple of years in Britain and a few months in Japan only. Sigh.

Look, I'm 75, and the difference is that Ageism is based in FACT. The mind slows as we age - that is FACT. Biden is TOO OLD. Reagan had alzheimers WAY before they admitted it. The Tangerine Turd didn't even start with that much gray matter, and what he did have atrophied - he is TOO OLD - but Nimratta Haley, while younger, lacks honesty and decency - she actually said The Tangerine Turd (Trump, for those of you who are dense) was "Truthful". TRUMP - TRUTHFUL!! That alone should disqualify her.

I think the actual story was, people are scheduled based on an 8 hour workday but for some jobs (I specifically remember coders in there), they are most productive for like 3.5 hours and the rest of their day is much less productive or is "filler". That has morphed a lot as it gets passed around. I think the outcome of the original study was more like, if we're only *actually* productive for 4 hours a day, why not do 4 hour shifts and have twice as many people. Then productivity could double. I mean, the goal is turning productivity into money, but a lot of managers get hung up on how many minutes you are working or if you listen to podcasts while you work. The only real metrics they should care about is quality of work and productivity. The rest is just micromanaging (which may make up more than 4 hours of those people's days ;) ).

Often, these are the top 3% in the company who make (they certainly don't earn - no one does) as much, if not more, than the other 97% of employees (including all the ones who do the work and help the company remain profitable *despite* incompetent management). I like how Isgur cited those red states for not have an income tax. Washington state also doesn't have one. Oregon doesn't have a sales tax. For anyone in politics or finance they know that states rely on 3 sources, state income tax, sales tax, and fees. If you remove one the others go up. Either that or you degrade services to a ridiculous point. If you look at Oregon, they have no way of dealing with the added homeless crisis because they just don't have the money. Yet the fees you pay for getting a license for anything is double or triple other states. And maintenance of infrastructure does suffer. (Portland was told after the Kobe earthquake to put metal sleeves on the pillars that support their highway system through the city and as far as I know, they still haven't done it.)
