Reviewing and starting a brand new engine which I received. An Anbull 7.5hp 223cc horizontal shaft engine with pull start. It started right up for the first time on the third pull and is now a 2 pull when cold and 1 pull when hot starter.
If you would like more info on the engine visit the following link. The link is an Amazon affiliate link and any purchase made through it provides a small referral fee back to the channel. It costs you nothing more.

Overall it's an honest and actuate review. The engine seems okay, but ultimately only time and hours of use will tell. The hardware looks cheap on video, but not a deal breaker. I like the metal tank and metal gas cap. I don't care about the chain myself as I've never lost a gas cap, but I do suppose under certain conditions it could easily happen, or more likely it could be dropped into something that would then compromise the fuel, so the chain is better to have than not. The machined surfaces look good. Availability of parts would be a major concern for me. Does it use Honda parts? Maybe you can do a follow up video after several hours of use, and we can take a look at the oil and see if you've struck silver.

Yeah, parts are the thing for sure. I guess it depends on identifying if it is an exact copy. But if it destroys a cam or something it is likely a throwaway. The air filter looks identical to a Honda part for their similar engine. The carb is a a replace not rebuild unit. They are just few dollars new on ebay. But if the recoil breaks or something like that, who knows! I thought about doing a oil video after break in but that is a bit subjective without something to compare it to because all engines will have some silver during break in. I could do a before and after compression test. The hardware was actually ok, not as bad as I expected. It will probably rust unlike the galvanized or parkerized bolts that briggs uses. But no plastic screws or screws into plastic and all the threaded holes which looked good. Now if Honda would give me a free engine to compare it to, that would be the real test :-) Compared to the few Chinesium engines I have seen it is pretty good, but like you say, it all about longevity and expectation. If you get a couple hundred hours out of it, that is probably all it is made for. A good test might be to find a pressure washer with a bad engine and make it turn a pump for a few hours.

@@theeddies Being an engine it's very limited in what you can do in a video, but you did what you could, so that's cool.

Yeah, it s really just an overview or close look, not a review. That is what I was trying to do. I had a lot of opinions that I left on the cutting room floor, and tried to mostly focus on "here it is", "here its running", "this is what the details look like", "oh and here is some inside shots". People can make up their own mind. Maybe the the most reveling thing about the "review" is that there was not any fiddling. It started right up, I did not have to put anything together or make any adjustments, or correct any assembly problems. It was pretty much plug and play. If there was some irritation I would have included it but other than the crushed wrench, there was just nothing wrong with it as it is.

I like adding oil in an engine. It keeps the engine alive

A few years back I bought a clone motor for 1 of my early garden tractors. It's conversion was the source of some of my earliest YT videos. I think it's been about 3 plus years ago, and the engine continued to run well. But I choose to go back to the original motor. I wouldn't hesitate to get another clone if I didn't have several Kohler K series at my disposal .. Very handy engines

I would chose a Honda if I had the money for one one, but this might be a good alternative.

@@theeddies I am thinking AVE or someone once did a quality side by side between Honda and the clones. As I recall there were some mostly minor issues with the clones in requrd to smaller details

Great video. I prefer a plastic gas tank. After seeing what happens to motorcycles and lawn mowers that don't get used very much I just wish they'd make all tanks plastic.

Fair point. I just expected this would be built down to a price and was surprised to see a slightly more expensive more durable option. Especially if this were used on a mini bike that was trashed around by a kid or something like that. But it can go either way. A heavy plastic tank with good mounting like a dirt bike could be argued to be a better option.

Good review Eddie... if you are going to put it to work it would be great to come back to it at regulars intervals to see how it is holding up...

G’day Eddie. That’s a nice looking little motor mate. Looks like a copy of Honda. From the video it looks very well made, as the casings look well made and machined nicely. Now speaking of “dip sticks” Dianne said I need to get a longer one 😂. Jokes aside, that was an excellent review Eddie. You did an great job if you ask me. Cheers 🍻. Aaron

Looks like a copy of a Honda engine, probably a little less expensive.

Just looked a 200cc up and you are right. I am am not very familiar with the Honda small engines. Very similar and looks like about half the price or more.

This engine sucks for racing. don't compare to a predator 212cc. You will get smoked. My predator on a Coleman ct200ua topped out 56mph governor off. This Anbull only topped out 48-50. They take off the same but that predator always came up

This is still a better engine choice than a Predator 212. All others are including the Predator 224.
