Sure, here's the rule: Standard 700 BDL stock - M4 DM System for a drop-in -or- fit the H-S Precision DM H-S Precision stock - Use the H-S Precision DM McMillan or Manners Tactical Stocks - M5 Stealth DM If you want to use (and have the wide availability of) the AICS magazines like the military, get the M5 Stealth and machine YOUR stock or get one from us pre-fit. The drawback of the M5 Stealth is that it will not drop into a standard BDL stock without extensive machining on a mill.

I have a Remington 700 ADL long action in .270 and have been wanting to find a way to go to a detachable magazine. Would that be possible? I'm thinking a stock change but which of the products would work for my caliber if any?

I didn't see where anyone else commented on this but I may have missed it. But you mentioned the M24 was long action because they are now converting them too 300 win mags. I spoke with a guy who was around back when they first got the rifles. They were originally chambered for 30-06. The army then realized they didn't have the stock pile of 30-06 they thought they had. If you've ever served in the army the fact that they made that mistake is not surprising at all. Well some of those rifles got converted to 300 win mag. Mostly special forces. The rest were chambered for 308. That's why they're using 308 in long action rifles. Not because they planned on converting to 300 win mag in the future as it sounds like in this video. Not that it's a big deal I'm just a bit of a history buff and thought you might find that interesting.

Hi Don. I've got a huge question. I have a Winchester Model 70 in 270 Win that has the blind Magazine. What would I need to convert it over to either a Hinged floor plate style or a DBM type. I know i'll need a new stock. But I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone on this. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The M5 Stealth DBM from Stocky's does not fit Model 70 HS Precision stocks in 300wsm. The front aluminum stud pushes the front metal out 0.14" and will need to be machined down to be flush in the front. And can not be taken down to the aluminium bed bc then the magazine would interfere with the bolt operation and the bolt won't close unless you push the magazine down from inside the chamber. That also happens bc the M5 308 magazine has about 1/4" of vertical travel if you push on the bottom of the magazine. I also had to remove the fiberglass in the middle like Don mentioned in this video. And the magazine rattles around so loud with the 308 AICS mag from Stocky's. Ridiculously loud!

My 700 Police in 338 Lapua came from the factory with a AICS drop out mag Now I'll like to get the same setup for my 308

I have a Mausur 8mm K98 converted to.243 with a Houge over molded stock, that I have feeding problems. Can your magazine conversion be adapted to this configuration?

Sure, with a new stock. I wouldn't recommend machining the Remington plastic stocks for it, too much material to remove. Go with the M4 for use in the factory stock.

My 783 (.223) came with a detachable 5-round magazine and Legacy Arms makes 10-round replacements which I will be calling about tomorrow to ask my and your question. From the pics it looks like if the magazine is already detachable like mine and the new 10-round one has the little notch retainer on the front of the mag at the same level as the 5-rounder, it is a no brainer. But if you don't have a detachable mag already, I've been told the conversion won't work. If in doubt call/email Legacy

the extended mag well also gives you a little more reliability when shooting from barricade. if you were to slam your magazine up against a sand bag or wall youre now prone to feed isues because youll cant your magazine. an extended mag well will protect you from from canting your magazine while pressing your rifle up against a baricade.
