This is a review of the K40 Trunk Lip Mount antenna. The K40 has been around for a number of years and has proven itself as a very capable and popular antenna for CBer's.

The K40 can be mounted as a trunk lip mount or magnetic mount antenna and also has a quick release so the upper section can be removed for security or convenience when entering a parking garage, etc.

Now, that's what I'm talkin' about, one of the best performing CB antenna. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, this K40 antennas has the same performance as the 102" Bullwhip that's why it became very popular because way shorter as the Bullwhip and easy to install and that is why I didn't let go of my K40. 73's.

great antenna i have one of this back in 90's

I got a magnet mount antenna on my vehicles trunk lid. I however took a piece of double shielded ground wire and soldered a ring terminal on each end. connected one to antenna and the other to my shock tower in the trunk. Seems to do ok. Would this be considered as a good ground/ ground plane? Any advice?

I seen on a internet website the Wilson 1000 trunk lip mount antennae is discontinued. No longer made. is this true ? If so is the k40 trunk lip mount the only trunk lip mount antennae available ?

Notice: The K40 is one of the few antennas where you should not change the length of the coax.

Does the magnetic option require grounding.

Luke, if you put it on your trunk lid, or on the hood of your vehicle, it's not a bad idea at all to put a braided grounding strap on the left and right underside of that surface to give it a thorough electrical AND an RF ground to the entire vehicle, especially if you run "power," but if you're just a casual user who only needs to hear and talk 3 to 7 miles with an unmodified CB radio, then no, it's not necessary to provide that extra grounding.

+blacka I had bought SR-A10. Great SWR readings I got a 1.1:1.6 SWR. Decent antenna for the price.

I had one a cop messed the lip on the trunk mount found a magnet mounted base that made it where it could go from my car to simi easily
