Study of natural sciences derived from observation is an ancient tradition. Anand has covered specifics of such tradition captured in 64 angas of Vrddha Gargiya Jyotisham and other texts. He points out that the method of modeling/predicting from observations is ancient and needs become prominent again.

It would be good to popularize the samskritam names for Indian bird species and use it to build our Indian equivalent of Animal Kingdom classification. The modern western approach of Kingdom, phylum, Class, Order, Family. Genus, Species is not without its limitations and an indian model using existing vocabulary could make for an interesting scientific exercise
