I was born in lower Ashtead; great to see my house and the common. Moved away in '84, but Ashtead will always be a special place!

Where were you actually born? Most people living in Ashtead would be born at Epsom Hospital, which is the nearest A & E hospital as well.

2.09 If you look directly in the middle of your screen at 2.09 you will have St. George's church in Barnet Wood Lane right in the middle. You will see a detached house painted white on the upper storey to the right hand side of the church. The side entrance to this house used to be a post office in the early 1960's. I used to go to Barnet Wood Lane primary school from 1961 to about 1964 and my mother would sometimes buy stamps in the then post office.

@@rollybentulan Yes, people come and go but some things stay almost the same for a long long time.

Thanks for this. You needed to fly the drone further South to capture the centre of Ashtead village (where Woodfield Lane meets the A24 The Street and then up Rectory Lane). Apart from the 5 or 6 mansions on Ashtead Woods Road in the North, most of the large houses of Ashtead are mainly in The Warren, Grays Lane, Ralliwood Road, Park Lane and Rookery Hill areas (again South of where you filmed your footage). To the West is Ashtead Park including the City of London Freemans school.

Yes, it is fairly prosperous, only Read Road and Taylor Road were, as far as I knew, the only two council house streets in the village.
