Welcome to Part 3 of my video series on the Hk G28 7.62x51mm Semi Auto Sniper System. This video will cover the full review of the G28’s controls, operation, and some of the features that make it special. Part 3 is my full overview of the rifle, check below for details on the other parts including the shooting video which is already live.
Join me on Patreon for additional content: / armandgun
Why I ask for support through Patreon:
I love the firearms community and am thrilled to be able to give back to it by way of producing content for it. I want to both continue my pace of content production as well as improve its quality, all while adding to its diversity (shooting for accuracy videos, destructive target testing, high speed / slow motion, etc).
Appearances aside, I am not just some rich guy with a ton of guns. I had a good job and ideal set of circumstances for a few years that allowed me to invest heavily in building up a sizeable collection. Those circumstances are changing, and now I am turning to the community to help continue to make this channel exciting and successful. Your help and support are greatly appreciated.
All funds received by KZbin (very insignificant as firearms videos are largely demonetized) and by supporters via Patreon are to be reinvested into this channel in the following ways:
- Purchase and import of new feature firearms/gear: Being in Canada, it is often difficult for manufacturers/distributors to send me firearms for testing and review. Instead, I often have to purchase them personally, and in some cases even import them into the country.
- Ammunition: It takes funds to run the guns enough to be able to get a good overall impression for an accurate review.
- Production value: I am always looking to add better camera and lighting gear to be able to improve the final product you see.
- Range and targets: from more static steel targets, to future destructive target testing.
- Travel to distributors/manufacturers/industry shows to get the content on the latest and greatest

This video is part of a multi-video set featuring the Hk G28.
Part 1: Intro to the firearm. “Gun101”
Part 2: POV Shooting (FPS style shooting video showing the gun in action, demonstrating the controls and ergonomics of the rifle, as well as any modifications I have done to the gun)
Part 3: Overview of the firearm including design detail, function and features
Part 4: Disassembly and review of key internal features
Thanks for tuning in! Lots more coming. I would appreciate your subscription as I hope to improve the level of content as the channel grows.

The forward assist is there because there is a technique called loosely translated "silent battery". It's trained since the G3 times but is harder with a G3 because it has no forward assist. What you do is with your right thumb you push back on the boltcarrier in the grooove while at the same time you push the forward assist a little bit more. Goal is to slowly let the bolt turn into battery instead of loudly snapping into place.

FYI the reason for not rolling the brightness on the scope immediately to 11 (or whatever max power), and needing to go from 1 through to 11, is due to night usage. You'll see this on any military scope / sight. Basically, you don't want to inadvertently bump it on to full power at night, as its fairly bright and a HUGE "here i am" marker. Under nods its even brighter and can be picked up fairly easily.

HK offered the german army a modified version of the MR308 with an aluminium upper. But after tests the military instisted on a stell upper because stell less expands and contracts in extreme temperature. So the G28 with steel upper offers more consistent shooting resuls without zeroing even after extreme temperature changes.

@@hunterromano5562 Yes, it's a German thing as well... I work for a German machine tool manufacturer here in the States. The accuracy that we guarantee for our machines, and what our machines are actually reliably capable of, are significantly different (meaning actual accuracy is better). I'd posit that the HK MR762/MR308/MR716 are capable of much better accuracy than what they guarantee (1.5MOA). There's a few reviews on KZbin where the reviewers report sub-MOA accuracy on 5rnd groups, with specific ammunition. You also have to know that HK's accuracy guarantee is for a 10 or 20rnd group (not sure which), not 3 or 5. This was also true of the HK PSG-1's. Also, the majority of the reviews are of rifles with the stock triggers and so-so optics. With a massaged or tuned trigger and high end glass, I'd bet that groups would improve some. As for the steel upper vs aluminum alloy... Logically, (I have no first hand experience, just familiarity with how the Germans do things) the steel is undoubtedly better, otherwise it wouldn't be an option at all. The question would be if it's worth the extra weight. In the end, I guess you have to make the choice on whether or not you want this rifle badly enough to pay the price for it (I sure as hell would!!). I don't understand why guys hate on HK. They make a damn nice product. You pay through the nose for it, but in the end, if you can't shoot for shit with it, it's not the rifle. I'm of the mindset that you always buy better equipment than your skills are capable of, for the simple reason that it you have a problem using it, you have a pretty good idea that it's not the fault of the equipment.

The story I heard was that some police units in Canada wanted them, and to get the "Z" model through Canada's classification system could have taken another 4 years. 20 CDN (15USD) is a little high. They were 16k MSRP, though a couple shops let them go for 14.6. I paid 16 via Wolverine supplies, plus tax etc. However I hear that the supply is now dry and the likelihood of getting more from Hk is slim. With that said, it's up to the collector market in Canada to decide the price. 20k isn't that unrealistic for a discerning Hk collector, considering UMP's and G36's still fetch over 10k. European MSRP is 10k Euro, though I have also heard of them selling for 10% or so under that.

And yes that is for the full package. The optics setup along is incredily expensive. The Era-tac mount is another top notch German component, let alone the "made for Hk" Schmidt and Bender. Quick note, the G28 comes with (1) 5round magazine, not the 20 round (limited to 5) pictured. It also comes with a harris bipod with ral8000 pic rail adaptor, and a Hk flashhider, not the Surefire warcomp with trainer (fake suppressor) pictured.

Goddamn dude I thought I had it bad with all my DD rifles and others with what our government is doing up here, can't even imagine how much cash you have tied up in your collection that's now in limbo. Hopefully we can all stick together and make it through this latest round of power hungry stupidity, good luck bud!

Due to my gun spending preferences I am required to work, a lot. That's all it is. Regularly budgeting to maximize disposable income on firearms, and time. I've been collecting pretty seriously for several years. An upcoming wedding, life, and other commitments will soon be cutting into it. I love producing content for the community though and don't want that to be affected. My aim was to build and monetize a platform so that I can both keep up the pace and improve the quality of the content.

It's been a grind building up the collection. Lots of hustling. With that said there isn't a lot of content out there on these guns. I am glad I have the opportunity to fill in some gaps.

How much is the G28, gotta be at least $10,000 huh? Doesn’t make any sense suppressors are illegal. First of all on a rifle they are still loud as f*ck but more importantly are a hearing protection device.

I don’t understand the point of having a non-working suppressor. If you are so called training with it then what is the point in a training suppressor if you can’t legally shoot with one? Seems like a waste of money and unnecessary weight.
