Overwatch 2's BIG Problem...

Totally agree. I will never not hate the 5v5 format. My friend and i play this game alot, and we basically only play open queue so we can both tank into one another. It's almost never fun any other way for us. I wish they would at LEAST add a 6v6 gamemode, but i bet everyone would play that more than anything, leaving the other modes empty

Hahah open queue was actually kinda fun when tanks had full health! I can understand why they changed it, but they get melted so easily now :'))

I will say, as a rein main, I can generaply handle matchups that counter me. Its when the dps go mei and bastion, or when the supports tank 15 hits cuz they pocket eachothr that sends me

Honestly yeah, the tank matchups aren't even THAT bad (for most heroes). It's when both DPS decide to ruin your day that the role is borderline unplayable :')

I find it really interesting how tanks have acted in OW2. I have only ever played OW2, but I have played it since launch day and now have 370 hours on it. I remember when the game came out, tanks, especially Hog and Zarya, were really good and blizzard decided to fix this issue by doing what made the most sense, and consistently nerfing Rein. The game is very broken, I mainly play support and just recently went 5-3 and ranked down. I played another round, went 5-4 and ranked down. Today I did a lot worse, went 5-6 and ranked up. On top of this, I now mostly wait to play with my cousin when playing comp, as he plays tank and it is so important that I genuinely do 2x better just from being able to communicate with him. The one where I ranked up (5-6) was the only one that I played with my cousin.

Hahaha that's Overwatch comp for you :') there are a TON of hidden factors that weigh into a rank update outside of just your record, and hopefully they'll fix that with season 9's ranked rework :)

My recent tank comp experience has been being able to slam the whole enemy team until mei and sym come out, everyone else is fine but those two and also pocket healers that only seek to heal each other and then ult for group heals

In theory, yes. But I do think that tank counters are often a lot more one dimensional than DPS counters. For example, Reaper vs Cassidy? Sure, Cass is good here, but it's not a matchup that entirely stops the Reaper from doing his job. But a Reaper countering a Winston? You may as well just swap hero unless you're smurfing :')

This comment sounds like you didn't watch the video. A whole section of the video is dedicated to saying we don't all want to counter pick in every game. We have heroes that we like and by forcing us to play heroes we don't like is forcing us to have less fun just for a win.

I could not agree more! I HATE counter picking with a passion. I main hanzo, tracer, and widow (but i will never play hanzo and widow on the same day since i cant adjust my aim that quickly). So if i roll on the first fight as Hanzo the enemy team just swaps to echo pharah. If im on tracer they swap reaper bastion. Its dumb. If im a higher skill and just losing to counter picking thats a major L for the games where the enemy team doesnt counter pick and im smurfing on the whole lobby. It ruins my experience and the enemy teams experience. I dont like going 35-0 in one game and 1-9 in another just because people want to counter pick or not.

I totally agree man! Players shouldn't HAVE to play at a diamond level to win a game in gold just bc the enemies wanted to counter swap... it makes the game feel sucky, and I hope they find a solution to it eventually :')

You can totally 1 trick a composition in a team environment, you can 90% of the time just play your composition better and overcome the "counterpicks". It just feels awful in a solo q ranked environment when you have a Rein OTP, a Mercy OTP, and a Zen OTP all on the same team.

Oh yeah, you can totally win it you're just "better". The problem is that I shouldn't have to play 2 ranks above the lobby's skill level on my hero, just bc the opponents clicked the counter button. The game is certainly still playable, I just find it a lot less fun when it's geared towards swapping instead of just playing the heroes that I wanna play :(

the thing is, yes you can play around your counters. But (at least for tanks), it is way easier to just swap off. And even if you can win rein v orisa, or ball v sombra, or hog v ana, it is a miserable experience. Considering these things, swapping off is just the logical option.

We end up with a whole group of tank players who only counterswap instead of trying to outplay the other tank. and while I, lets just say, dislike, these players. I can't blame them because its literally the optimal strat in every situation. If you just wanna rank up on tank, why do anything else? Same goes for dps, with healing output being so crazy, its actually put us in a spot where its easier to win fights if you just burn the tank resources (ala bastion)

Oh for sure, 6v6 definitely wasn't perfect! Personally, I would take those problems to the 5v5 ones, but that's totally just my preference and I think everyone will feel differently about that :')

Also don’t need tank damage. You already can’t kill shit in gm if supports are dumping your heals into one person you are targeting. As a tank you end up relying on dps being able to kill things while your supports heal you more than the enemy tank. It’s not fun and there is a reason tank queue is shorter than any other role

They actually tried an experimental patch with tanks having increased health but lower damage in Overwatch 1! It's good in theory, but in practice everyone kinda just ignores the tank bc they're not scared of standing next to a Reinhardt who does 5 damage :') so you kinda just ended up with this game where tanks did NOTHING, and just waited for the DPS and supports to trade hahah

As both a Tank and DPS main, tanks are trash.... they get completly overwhelmed by the rest of the roster to the point that even one bad DPS or Support is basically a lost game for you. Not to mention the horse...... I HATE the horse with a passion.
