People in quickplay have no chill. I am diagnosed with depression. I was having a mental breakdown the other day and couldn’t stop crying so I decided to play quickplay a bit. I was hoping it would help me get rid of bad thoughts. I’m a GM player so I usually get into GM/t500 lobbies in quickplay. However, that day I was crying my eyes out so my gameplay was awful. After that one qp match a random person on the enemy team added me just to tell me “don’t ever play the game again”. It just made me feel more shitty. Quickplay is supposed to be fun and chill, but at this point it’s even more toxic than comp…

If multiple people shot at him through a window thats 100% reasonable. i think i know why he doesnt show how many ppl are shooting at him and what heroes they are on, makes it seem a lot more ridiculous if he doesnt show you "i get sojourn railed, shot at by bap, fire striked" etc. you should absolutely die that quickly if 5 people shoot and hit you with strong abilities. just like you do if you got nano, fast charging support ults shouldnt make 5 people hitting their shots/abilities on you just.. not kill you. that would be so lame.

Dude I had a tank flame me when I was playing Hanzo dueling the enemy widow constantly. We started dueling the second we saw each other so we focused each other in the team fights. Obviously my elims were a bit lacking because I mainly tried to get the widow, to try and keep my supports from being domed. If I’d win the duel I’d focus on unloading into their dps and supports to help the push. The tank goes into match chat and starts raging at me for throwing the match because I wasn’t hard focusing their tank and that I was a “garbage Hanzo zero trick”, blah blah blah. Our supports backed me up saying that I was the main reason they weren’t getting headshot by the widow and the tank was playing like an idiot for rushing into the open with no one behind him. We ended up winning but the tank couldn’t leave well enough alone and had to get the “I hard carried, garbage Hanzo” in at the end of the match.

Know the feeling. I had a bap lose his mind when I picked orisa. Had not even left spawn and he started going off about her not blocking bullets and bad hero and this and that. Started swearing and then decided to leave even though I was like I can swap heros, I don't care. He responded with more verbal diarrhea and then left lol. They should add an unranked game mode. Where you play within a slightly more generous skill range. Maybe gold 5 to diamond 1 or whatnot, its basically ranked but it doesnt effect your ranking. You could play with similar skilled players and experiment without tanking your ELO or ruining some bronze/silver games

Dude The counter swap game is 10x worse in qp. No joke. Was playing doom earlier today, first game on. Literally just existing not even getting picks. They go Cass, sombra, Ana, hog. However recently I've been trying to learn a bit of doom/ball in my qp games, I'm fairly confident on all the other tanks, definitely not the best or above average on most but I can play them like they're supposed to be played and even though I've got the mechanical skill of a baby with arthuritis and carpal tunnel I've managed to get myself to mid plat which before I was hardstuck bronze in ow1 as I just refused to switch. I physically cannot try to practice ball/doom, every single game without fail I start off on doom, sometimes ball if I feel like playing a bit of ball, get maybe 436 damage at most in a teamfight, missing every punch, beefing every kill confirm, generally doing nothing except poking as dive characters and they'll immediately swap hog/orisa, sombra, pharah, mercy, ana. I feel like I'm gonna have to smurf to fucking bronze lobbies to even get a chance to practice regular doom/ball gameplay since they don't understand how to counterswap there. if you're counterswapping while you're being spawntrapped fair enough but counterswapping the guy who's clearly not good, practicing a new character, not doing anything after 1 lost teamfight just because "oo ooo counter oo oo" you're taking quickplay too seriously. I'm not asking to be allowed to just carry the entire team solo, for them to lay down and die but it's at a point where I honestly feel like practicing a character at my highest rank is more realistic/doable than in quickplay because of these dipshits who think they're in a tourney, team counterswapping the bronze equivalent doomfist so they can make sure that 5k damage/10 mins 2-10 doom play doesn't end up happening.

The vid of quick play not being fun because of sweats is valid. I use quick play to hone my heroes and get my aim dialed in before comp. I would be down for a scrimmage mode. Doesn’t affect your rank but plays just like comp. Like 2 rounds of Hybrid. Create distance from the sweats and the casuals.

i genuinely dont know how you would "fix" quickplay. you cant fix how people choose to play. you can have people who are there to practice, try to win & also people just having fun. but having fun can also mean trying to win and hitting shots. that dorsnt mean theres something wrong with the game mode. its a player problem, but you just gotta ignore them. mute qp chat if you just want to chill (or turn on text to speech, its extremely funny)

I'm sorry but I do think that is technically a problem if the matchmaking isn't even changed whatsoever between a ranged and quick play game mode then what's the point of rank in the first place like no wonder they let everyone see each other's placements in the first game at that point you're just logging in 2 sets of hours to the same machine I definitely think quick play could benefit from the matchmaking being completely scrambled in a sense that the skill difference is much wider between all 10 players so every player can experience every form of combat in this game getting carried by a tank getting carried by a DPS getting carried by a support getting railed buy every type of character because of how many different players you'll run into instead of everyone having the same mindset because you constantly only get to play with people in the same rank as you it's like j3's ELO hell videos how are you supposed to get the chance to prove that you can move up if you don't even get the chance to play in the big leagues

Simple solution. Keep Quick Play for people who want to have fun. Make a new game mode that mirrors competitive but only in a practice sense, there's no real cross over with the actual competitive mode. Basically the same game mode but with its own ranking system that means fuck all. It's just a measuring stick for people to practice in, with new heroes or period, so they both see where they stand with that hero or get better at it so they climb out of a rank they feel like they're stuck in. As a bonus you would alleviate the people wanting to fun, or new players, from being pitted against competitive players or premade teams of them. Because that shit ain't fun.

Oldest possible solution said for years to the "quick play problem", split quick play into quick play and unranked. Quick play, no changes. Unranked is entirely comp rules but without SR.

Main reason me and my friends play qp is because we are just outside of each other's ranks. Its usually around 500 sr (one skill tier) difference so we can handle queueing together just fine. That's one reason I'm excited for season 10 since we no longer have to configure our wants and needs just to play the game in comp.

Overwatch 1 had comp, quick play and the arcade mode that was basically open queue, the name of it escapes me. That third one is what my friends and I played before OW2 released, and it kinda solved the problem for us.
