The significance of the feather. Young Genji's nickname is Sparrow.
@davidsnyder73416 жыл бұрын
Don't read me k his nickname was sparrow because he was the brother who was “free as a bird” from the burden and responsibilities of his clan and family name. Hanzo was first in succession and thus was destined to take on the responsibilities of being patriarch.

Contrary to the thought that crying is a sign of weakness, it is actually the opposite. Studies reveal that people who cry often are mentally stronger. People would often disregard the fact that cry is part of expressing one's emotions. Just like laughing your heart out when you're crying, tears fall when you're sad.

Wow you are so wrong. Crying often is a sign of mental instability, don't spread misinformation.

"Perhaps I am a fool to think there is still hope for you, but I do. Think on that, brother." Possibly some of the most powerful lines uttered in one of these shorts. Genji showed him compassion and leniency even after he murdered him, when Hanzo refused to show him the same.
@Codex_06135 жыл бұрын
A bit late on the reply but Hanzo kept blaming himself after all these years for "killing" his brother. To tell him to suddenly accept the fact that his brother is alive and willingly forgive him for the past is just too much to put on his shoulder in the moment. Genji, on the other hand, had had time to contemplate and come to terms with what happened.

Two brothers Hanzo (oldest) and his younger brother Genji. Both from a yakuza clan, Hanzo took his responsibility seriously, while Genji wanted no part of it. Genji devoted his time to ninjitsu, but refused to join his brother Hanzo in the leadership of the clan when their father died. They fought, Hanzo for all intents did kill Genji, consumed with grief Hanzo left his clan behind. Unbeknownst to Hanzo, Genji survived and was saved by the medic of Overwatch, Dr Zeigler AKA Mercy. Genji was cyberized, and assisted Overwatch in destroying the Shimada Yakuza clan. Hating and not knowing who is anymore Genji left Overwatch, and joined the Omnic Shambali Monks. I would also recommend you both check out the other Overwatch cinematic's. The intro announcement, Alive, Recall, and Hero Have a good day all

If nobody has already told you, Genji's nickname when him and Hanzo were small was Sparrow. So the feather in the beginning is a sparrows feather in honour of he's memory. The location this happens is a map in the game and is also the place where Hanzo tried to kill Genji. The game it self is multiplayer only so there is little story to be found in the game other then symbolism and dialogue between the characters. The dialogue means little sadly unless you already know the backstory which so far is only in comics, their website and these short stories.

back when the game came out, what happened was everybody was playing and learning the moves and people would learn Hanzo's ultimate and see the dragon attack and hear him say that phrase - and then this video short comes out. Hanzo losing to Genji in this fight until finally he has to pull out his ultimate attack - at that moment when he uttered that spell to call out the dragons, every gamer watching spits out their drinks and loses their minds because they already know that attack "Ryuu ga waka teki wo Kurau!" - that moment truly was unbelievable seeing that ultimate attack come to life on screen!

The feather at the beginning was part of the funeral rites Hanzo was performing in the great hall. He sneaks into his ancestral home every year on the same day because that’s the day he killed Genji, his brother, as part of his duty to the clan. The feather is from a sparrow which was Genji’s nickname because he was unburdened by the responsibilities of inheriting the title of patriarch of the Shimada clan. (Hanzo was first in succession and thus Genji was “free as a bird”). Hanzo, thinking he had killed his brother and overcome with grief, abandoned his role as patriarch and became a rogue ergo why he has to sneak into his own compound. But unbeknownst to him, Genji lived having been saved by the genius doctor Mercy (another playable character), and this cinematic is the story of their reunion. Genji is actually sent to assassinate his brother who is currently a neutral party in the oncoming conflict that threatens to destroy the fragile peace that exists after the Omnic Crisis that almost wiped out humanity. The creators of the short left the ending ambiguous intentionally so that viewers could decide what Hanzo ultimately chooses to do- whether he sides with Overwatch to protect the peace that exists or whether he chooses to once again take up arms against his brother and help plunge the world back into war. Shit’s nutty.
