Doomfist is pretty evil but he does try to "help" humanity in his own twisted way. I'd say doom for silver and reaper for gold. Reaper does it because he wants to and it's his missions. As much as i love doom, i don't think he's more evil than reaper

I agree with you, but it really depends on whether you believe morality is based on intent or the result of one's actions. Doomfist might be driven by higher motives than Reaper, but he's also far more intelligent, influential and powerful. As the leader of Talon, his actions hurt a lot more people than Reaper.

Reaper is still evil but his short story showed that he has tried really hard to change the world for the better by becoming a cop, joining the army, and joining Overwatch, but eventually became fed up with how deep corruption runs and how he was unable to make the world a better place despite the "good" role he tried to play. It doesn't explain why he's obsessed with death today, but he realized that "playing things by the book" didn't work and that rich criminals usually end up getting away scott free no matter what, which is why he killed the Talon guy in Retribution instead of just taking him into custody like he was supposed to. Also I can't say Hammond is more good than Lucio considering he participated in the mech fighting in Junkertown.

I feel like with reaper his obsession with death and the violence that comes with it is more like a build up from his pent up frustrations and anger. You know how when some people are so angry and tired of holding themselves back from said anger they just explode? I think that's what happened with reaper. As you said, he's tired by playing by the book bc his experiences showed him that it never works so he's like, "Alright then, fine, then whoever crosses my way dies"

I think hammond should go in the grey area He's the perfect example of someone who's morally grey. He's never done that much "bad" but he's also never done that much good. Even in his origin story he's just a morally grey character. I don't think that he should be in the good area especially over someone like Lucio just because he's never done bad. Yea he hasnt really, but he's also never done good.

Moira is like.. a good person with no inhibitions doing whatever means necessary to further humanity "Humanity is shackled. I will find the key." -Moira's hero select qoute she's probably a psychopath or some neurodivergent that lacks in emotion in the brief interactions between her and Mercy, she always wins the argument OW1: Mercy: ..something something, unethical yada yada.. Moira: ..something something.. can't deny the results (I tried to find the exact words for the interaction but for some reason, the wiki deleted the OW1 interactions) OW2: Mercy: I'd rather wait a century for progress than cause the harm you have. Moira: What a joy it must be... to feel entitled to patience. (Due to Mercy's experimentations, she shortened her own aging, she could very well live on for a few centuries. Moira knows only Mercy can afford to wait that long.)

In my Opinion, Sombra should Go more into Neutral, but still behind Hanzo. There are no real informations until now, that might make her evil or Bad. Despite of her some Bad Actions, she still acts into More friendly Actions than other Talon. Widowmaker can stay in Bad Category, but i think at high. She only kills, because she thinks it makes her more alive. And the more her Heart Beats, then more she becomes human. She begins more often visiting her Killed husband, and also she Had a emotional Encounter With Ana, about her Feelings.

@@olofacosta3192 At the same time, Hanzo in neutral category - leads a criminal organization involved in drug dealing, weapon smuggling, works as a dedicated assassin, and kills his own brother. Also, raids the Shimada temple every year. And turned Doomfist's offer, and he is probably the only character that Talon tried to actively recruit. That should mean something. At the same time, Sombra and Cassidy(McCree) are shown to be friends. Or at least friendly to each other. Which does count for something, knowing his sense of justice. P.S. Also she helped Baptiste desert from Talon. Don't remember where I heard it, so probably worth cheking if it's actually true.

I think GLaDOS would take the silver medal for most evil. Cave Johnson would be the most evil due to his insanity, and lack of morality when it came to the numerous amount of experiments his company was involved. Hell, he would frequently force people into various experiments, whether they knew it or not. From infusing his scientists with praying mantis DNA, to having them fight the Mantis Men he created. Not to mention HE was the one responsible for the creation of GLaDOS as he wanted to preserve his brain in an AI, but due to diagnosed with an illness, thanks to being exposed to moon dust, that would kill him before they could make him an AI, he forced his assistant to undergo the procedure, resulting in the creation of GLaDOS, and the events of Portal and Portal 2.

When she was disconnected from the system thanks to both Chell and Wheatley, GLaDOS calmed down. Actually starting acting more friendly towards Chell, and even offered her assistant towards Chell to stop a corrupted Wheatley before he accidentally destroys the facility.

So here is where I would disagree : - I disagree with lucio being that low, his moral code is perfect and stealing was his only choice to preserve the freedom of his people, he's one of the most morale character in the cast. - Tracer could be a bit higher, I can understand her antusiasm can be seen as a bit dogmatic, but it doesn't seem like she commited or is about to commit any bad actions. -Baptiste is a good character in his current state, has great morale values, his whole story is about redemption, admitting he was wrong and trying to fixe his mistakes, and he has enough time to make up for his bad dids. - Reinhardt should clearly be lower, but still in good. He is clearly brave but is a bit too arrogant and inconscious in his actions, and even if he became more responsible over the years, I feel like without good morale benchmarks to make his personality serve the good, he could have ended up like baptiste or even doomfist. - Zaria is around the new baptiste and rein placement, she clearly has strong morale values, and that's her upbringing that's causing some of the more grey parts of her story. She stands up to protect the weak so despite her patriotism (something she share with other good characters) she clearly deserves a good spot. -Sombra is at the top of bad, around ash. She serves her own interest but is still perfectly sane and she isn't as narrow minded as the other villain, making her less sadistic and therefore dangerous. She also wants to expose political malpractice and though this is part of her manipulation, it isn't inherently bad.

If we have to place Symmetra and Lucio on a political compass, they are both leftist, both coming from a pretty poor background and trying to help the society. The main difference between the two characters is their relation to freedom. I actually think Symmetra is the communist one (at least what's closer to historicall forms of communism AKA USSR) she is really authoritarian in her mindset while Lucio is really libertarian (actually closer to social democratie a capitalistic system like sweden). I think you mixt up the left-right split which is how much a government should provide to their citizens and the authoritarian-libertarian split which is how much power should the government have on their citizens which is wildly different. More concretly you have leftist-authoritarian states (like USSR or in theory north korea) where the state provide goods but control their citizens in exchange. In overwatch symmetra and Vishkar in general is a good exemple. You have leftist-libertarian states (like most of europe actually, the purest form of it is the nordic countries but countries like France, Netherlands or Germany also have a lot of goverment intervention through health-care, high education and public infrastructure). The biggest difference with communist countries is that while the people are helped by the state, they are free and the system is therefore a mixt economy with capitalist parts. In overwatch I think that Lucio is the best exemple but far from the only one. You have libertarian-right wings systems (mainly the US and US inspired nations) where the people are free but with rudimentary government interventions. Again I think a lot characters (every american characters but also Moira and the junkers are also in there. Though I think sombra is the better exemple). Finally you have authoritarian-right wing systems (Aka fascist states like the nazis) where the state is more important than the individual and therefore the state controle the individuals. One good exemple in overwatch is probably doomfist as "evolution through conflict" is one of the base of fascism as it is really close to Mussolini's ideas. I'm not saying Symmetra is morally a bad as I said she wants to make the world a better place but she is is clearly anti liberty which is a big characteristic of communism.

While Lucio sais "What you don't understand is that people should be free" which probably would have made him killed in USSR, Symmetra sais "freedom is an illusion" which is way closer to the mindset that some people (AKA the state) knows better than the citizens what is good for them which is pretty common in Marxism.

Well, I may be wrong about communism, but Lucio is still wrong at some points. His line "Now this is my kind of city, everyone is free to live as they choose" or complaining about politicians in OW2 PvE. Morality wise, it's very off. Like, I live as I choose, I can kill you without worrying about everything, cuz it's my choice. The freedom Lucio talked about is a freedom without law and order, as Symmetra called, anarchy, which isn't a good thing for a society to be maintained. Not to mention that he never admit he stole a company property. Despite his father inventing the tech, Viskar is still the legal owner, so stealing is still counted as a sin, no matter if that comp is good or bad. C'mon, admit is a very easy thing to do, but NO, he doesn't.

So no it's not saying, "I can do whatever I want" but more "I can decide how to contribute to society". Also I don't see how complaining about politicians is supposed to be something sinful, like by definition tou can't agree with every politician which mean you will have to criticize someone's politics. Like you need to know the context in order to assess the morality of an action. For the stealing, yes the justification is fairly dumb but Lucio's actuon have had a voluntarly positive effects on both his community and the rest of the world, something he wouldn't have achieved without it, so I don't see how he is a "bad" person.

Not gonna lie, I do not think this is a very good good to evil list. Like I believe true goodness and people who are good would even be willing to go against the rules and laws to save those in need. Just because they break a law doesn't make it an evil action, I would actually argue the lack of action from some characters would make them more "evil" than the good people who do everything they can for what is morally right. As good and evil are morality based not just on laws. Soldier 76, Jack Morrison deserves a higher spot as he was willing to continue to fight against the forces of true evil even when everyone was complacent with it.

sadly the Law is no where near perfect thats the only reason you can't say that breaking the law is evil because sometimes it the good thing to do if the Law had been perfect than the world would be in a hell of a better shape

Lucio definitely should have been in the good. He fights for his people and country, reclaimed his family heritage and heirloom by his father, used music to gather and make people around the world feel better and together as one. He respects omnics not as human, but as equals. He only wants to see the world at peace with each other and is willing to fight for that. No way in hell a fucking hamster is above him, nor brig. Brig wants to help people and tries, but it's no where near the effect of Lucio. She's helped a minute group of people, but Lucio has helped people globally. He saved an entire country from the revolution that is Vishkar.

Phara literally works for a private military company and is a police state style enforcer All Hammond has done is not genocide the humans on the moon, and became the champion gladiator in Junkertown, seemingly murdering scores and scores of rival gladiators in the arena. Symettra literally works for an evil corporation, and has only recently done good things like do a bit of pro bono repair work at a temple. Baptiste was pressganged into Talon because he seemingly had no other option, and is actively a good guy. At least way better than Phara. Genji has found spiritual fulfilment and is basically Zenyatta lite in terms of his current moral compass. Hanzo is a conflicted warrior type and hasn't shown any interest in repairing the damage the Shimada clan inflicted. The only thing he's interested in now is restoring his honour. An honour system born from organised crime and covert actions, very different to an honour system like Reinhart's. Ashe became a criminal because her parents were neglectful, disowned her and betrayed her, so she betrayed them back and started a family-oriented criminal gang. And as we all know, corporations are evil, so it's not like crime gangs are much better or worse. Ashe is a criminal but she's only in it for the money, stability and family. Breaking the law is not evil (it is chaos), only pursuing evil for it's own ends is actual evil. Roadhog is an amoral mercenary who has no qualms, because overwatch is pg they don't show any crimes worse than murder, theft and destruction of property but it's clear that Roadhog has no morality. Junkrat is there to loot and cause chaos, and exemplifies chaos. He also seemingly has no morality, and kills for the sport and loot of it. Widowmaker is literally mind controlled and not responsible for anythng she does. Should be neutral. Sombra is neutral , and is shown that her true goal is not selfish, but rather to bring down governemnts and corporations and expose them for their sins and corruption. Yeah she joined a gang but with the socioeconomic state of her country organised crime is a given. It's unknown what exactly Moira's goals are, but it's likely continued scientific research and progress, which is an unequivically moral motivation. Siding with, abetting and aiding a terrorist organisation like Talon does dock her a few points however, but it's likely she feels betrayed by the weak-minded scientific community who's unwilling to push the boundaries in the name of progress. Reaper was betrayed and is out for revenge against an organisation that failed him, nuff said. Doomfist is literally trying to evolve and advance humanity as a whole, and is the definition of neutral.

Does anyone else think that this list should be about the characters as they are now, instead of as they were (i.e Mcree trying to be a good person to make up for the stuff he used to do)? Also, since when does breaking the law automatically become a bad thing, even if it’s for the greater good to do so? Like some of these are like “He/she stole something from a corrupt company who had nefarious intentions for said item, but the thief is the bad guy” or “He/She broke the law because if he didn’t then 1,000s of people would’ve died, but they’re evil because they broke the law.” The rankings on this list are still mostly ok, but some of these rankings feel like bs.

I have multiple issues with much you have on here. But the one bit that REALLY galls me is at 9:02. As any "Dungeons and Dragons" enthusiast will tell you; being Lawful (following the Law) is not the same thing as being Good. Not all Laws are just. In fact, you could argue, as many have, that "Laws that are not Just, are not Laws." Doing Good is doing what is Right without regard to what Laws and Authority decree or demand. Folks have done Great and Wonderful things that were horribly illegal. Consider, famed American Abolitionists like Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, and John Brown. And a great many Folks have committed Atrocities and Crimes against All of Humanity; and all because they were "Just Following Orders."

If you read the comics, both star wars and overwatch, you'd realize you're very wrong, reaper is sort of like batman, he has a very very strict sense of justice, unlike batman though he has also got 0 morals, will stop at nothing to get his cause, is a very strong anarchist and has a lot of resentment and built up anger waiting to be released. Darth vader however is simply a monster, in the comics he will hunt down his teammates if he's bored, kill any sith or empire soldier if they show any form of positive feelings, he even destroyed a dam, killing hundreds of innocent people just to kill a single jedi

@@Brandon-br7tc you'd be surprised, he actually has a surprising amount of morality in him, he does have a very strict sense of justice, like batman levels of justice, his revenge towards overwatch members isn't against all of them, just the ones involved with what happened to him, basically everyone you see in the small photograph Winston has, he even removed Ana from that list and chose not to kill her, instead leaving her on the ground when she saw who was behind the mask. He isn't as evil as you'd think, rather on a warpath against those who've done him 'wrong' he truly believes that working with talon is the right thing as it serves for the future of humanity in ways that would be conceived unconventional and wrong, he will do anything he can to protect innocent people. If you watch the sombra cinematic with reaper, we see that he doesn't just kill, if that person is Injured enough not to be a threat, he'll just leave them be, he's a methodical sociopathic professional who only wants to do what he believes is right, only problem is he also happens to have a deep hatred towards overwatch. Also in the retribution event it was later revealed that he killed whatever Italian man's name was because he didn't believe a criminal such as him deserved to live

Widowmaker also lost her emotions. IMO she lost her moral compass aka her heart when she killed her husband. Although she does still have some feelings about that. Or maybe she is in conflict with herself. But I think she would ranked higher towards the grey area instead of bad/evil. I think I should be based on their morality and the effects of the actions (legal or not) they take. People such as soldier break the law but protect the innocent and do what is right, regardless of legality. My point is that in order to stop something that is bad in order to stop it you have to do something out the morality of others.
