In Poland under communism, girls my husband grew up with would make crafts out of the silver bubblegum wrappers and other items like that because they had limited supplies and options during that time. My husband is 44 for reference so this was not that long ago.

Thank you for setting a great example on how to be respectful of keeping order in the thrift stores. We spend quite a bit of time in our shop straightening up after customers leave items in odd places or on the floor. I notice that society seems to have lost respect for retail stores and create chaos which costs them more because of the labor needed to reorganize the store on a daily basis.

GE Karen. Thank you again for taking us with you. I see you passed by the Hummel's. Sad that they were 'collectable" at one time, but not anymore unless they have a special mark on them. My mom collected them for years and when I worked, at a dept. store back in '73, making $,75 an hour, I would put one on layaway for her for Christmas. Have a nice rest of your night.

The oil lamps are handy when power goes out. Make sure the wick and wick wheel turns. And be careful turning them sideways because the shade can come off. I have several different ones. I have one that is pretty old. My neighbor was about 80 thirty-five years ago. I bought it at her yard sale and she said it was her mothers. I've seen one just like it on Bonanza, so I think maybe from late 1800s.

I'm just speculatin'... but I think that the Tonala "CANCÚN" plate might have some relevance to a Tonala collector, and might not be that hard to sell... I'd have taken a chance on it if the price was right! 😊 Regarding the glass clōche: "clōche" is French and is pronounced with an Ō-sound like the Ō in "clōthing." And the cloche simply has a rough, unfinished pontil mark, usually called an open pontil. A pontil mark that has been made smooth is called a polished pontil.
