every time DF talks about the number of enemies killed the editor zooms in on his xp count instead of the kill count 💀 no shade to the editor it was funny after I got over the confusion of looking at his xp and thinking he killed over 120k enemies

Halls of Torment is a stellar game. When I found out you could use the potion of memorize to select multiple of the same tier upgrade I felt like my mind expanded

Generally speaking, in most games you have a base value for stats and then percentage upgrades. So say for crits, your base crit is 10%. Taking an upgrade that gives 10% crit chance will change your 10% crit chance to 11% crit chance, as you increased it by 10% of the base. So when you see upgrades that specify "base" of something, it's almost always better, as it's directly added to the base number, then multiplied by any other increases. So while that 0.15 base crit seems small, it's multiplied by all the % inc crit upgrades you get.

@@NeinDao correct, base crit is multiplied by % crit. You can also "overcrit" (unlockable iirc, but Im not sure), which applies crit bonus several times. Each 100% applies crit bonus once. The best part? Dev encourages breaking the game, as there are several achievements that require "deal X damage in one hit" or "hit 80 or more enemies in one swing as swordsman". The highest dmg in one hit is the achievement for cleric character, that requires 100k or more damage in one damage tick.

From the one time he showed it he had 22% crit chance (after 1 10%upgrade) so I assume that he had 20% base and the % changes are additive as % then multiply base. Where as base crit will just increase the 20% base.

So these kind of stats have been well woven into my brain haha. But yeah this is indeed exactly how it works. And yeah crit multiplyers are so nice , especially if you got damage multipliers and crit multiplyers with 100% crit chance , that's Just insanity level damage :)

Love this game and the content! 2 advice: - On all the maps you got some mission to do. In that map you need to find some blood on the floor and follow it. - Try and find the wellkeeper. You can send out your items after you find him and keep them permanently.

DF , as an action hack and slash rpg fan for years I can tell you " base crit " refers to things like your weapon. For example let's say without any crit chance upgrades your weapon has 5% crit chance. Then that's your base crit. If you get that 0,15 base crit that probably means your crit will be 5 + 0,15 = 5,15% crit that being said % crit chance gets applied after that. So those small base crits may not seem huge but combined with the % crit chance it can really add up to be huge eventually :)

It's not hugely useful until you start getting upgrades that synergise with pickup range. Grabby hands will pick up all the useful stuff, and you always have at least one on a map.

I got to play the early access for this, and it was a good idea, and it felt so enjoyable to play a diablo like survivors. If DF really liked this one he should check out Tower of Kalemonvo, Its a new Diablo-1 like, that gets a good dopamine fill for its demo.
