I like how much more relaxed this show has become. It used to feel so competitive, but now it just feels like a group of friends being funny and actually enjoying themselves. It's a nice change of pace!
@pacifistattack4 жыл бұрын
I think a good part of that was Frankie Boyle. He is funny, but it was obvious he always wanted to be the star and hated sharing the stage.
@alyssa-hk2pg4 жыл бұрын
@@pacifistattack I completely agree. I love Frankie, but he definitely hogged the microphone when he was on, as did Hugh. It forced everyone else to have to fight their way to the mic, that’s why it was so competitive. If I remember right, some comedians even stopped coming on the show because of it, like Jo Brand. I remember that one episode where Ed Byrne got so frustrated with the microphone hogging that he pushed Hugh and ran off with the microphone lmao

@alyssa-hk2pg4 жыл бұрын
@@cov9290 I understand why you'd feel that way. I love dark humor, and the earlier episodes were absolutely hilarious, especially because of Frankie. I don't think it's forbidden, it's the whole "going away holding a cardboard box" thing that just looks way too emotional for British people to deal with.
@jesseberg32713 жыл бұрын
@@silvasilvasilva I guess I just don't see the emotional aspect you're referring to. In American offices, it's a perfectly normal sight. It can be happy or sad, depending on the person and situation, but all the cardboard box means is that you need to carry your stuff and you don't want to make too many trips. Maybe it's a car thing?
@silvasilvasilva3 жыл бұрын
@@jesseberg3271 I think British people just find it too personal to display - why would you show the whole world you're leaving your job? (Crazy, I know, but thaťs how a sizable part of them think). Thaťs why we know the guy in the picture was clearly doing it for the photo op - he knew there would be cameras outside and knew how his British audience would take it - showing vulnerability would humanize him.
