Favorite bottle hands down. Even without the second latch on I had zero spillage while laying this thing in my car. I also love how that second latch can be used to carry the bottle. With my 36oz bottle filled up I had no problem using the latch to carry it around. The ease of choice in chugging or sipping is so nice and refreshing. Not to mention the design makes doing either very comfortable. It's so worth the purchase.

I just saw one of these at target. I have multiple “hydro flasks” but the leak proof functionality and straw / gulp option AND it costs noticeably less.

I have the 24oz bottle. I love it. I live in Puerto Rico where the sun very intense and the ice inside the bottle has last me as much as 26 hours. The only con I find is that the bottle is too tall for my liking. I wish it was at the most 10in in height rather than 10.68in. When you put it in the side pocket of a backpack it always feels like it is going to fall out.

Thank you for the review! In their website they recommend not to put the bottle it self in the dishwasher (the lid is fine) because it can ruin the matt finish. Did you feel any difference?

Great review, thank you! I am just wondering about cleaning and mold. The rubber stopper on top is removable, yes? And there’s a rubber ring around the screw on part, right? Is that it? It seems easy to clean if I just disassemble those two parts and use a bottle/straw brush for the rest? I have a Contigo right now and it’s a nightmare to clean! There are certain spots I just can’t get to. Could you tell me if there are any places for mold to hide? If there is not, this seems like the perfect bottle for me! Loved your review! Hope to get an answer about cleaning/any hidden weird parts. ❤❤

i have an owala and the little rubber part that keeps it from leaking does come off! that is also unfortunately for a lot of people, luckily knock on wood i haven’t experienced it, where mold does tend to hide if not taken off when cleaning or not thoroughly cleaned when taken off! as for the rubber ring on the lid i’ve never been able to get mine off so i think it’s meant to be a stationary piece and not a removable one. the straw does come out so you can really get in all that area in the straw and the hole in the lid with a straw cleaner and also be sure to kinda “screw” the straw back in so it holds better. i hope ive helped with all your questions! but it’s such a worth it bottle i say give it a chance!

Having had some more time with them, have they shown any signs of molding? I was very interested in buying one before I saw many complaints of mold forming, even within the rubber seals themselves, making it impossible to clean out. Thanks!

You can remove the rubber seal, just do it carefully and gently. But if it ever breaks, you can buy replacement ones and replacement kids too. A lot of people don't know that they can remove it and wash it.

I'm here because I found the white insulated one at my dollar store for $3.99😯👏 but the problem is I can't get the lid off to wash it before using it. Idk what I'm doing wrong 😵😟

Only issue that I've found after a few months of use is that they don't the gaskets separately, but you have to replace the whole top.

You mentioned that the insulated ones can be put in the dishwasher, but the Owala website states otherwise: "Cup: If the cup is made of Eastman Tritan™plastic, feel free to put it on the dishwasher’s top rack. If the cup is made of stainless steel, hand-wash with warm, soapy water." Wondering: Did you guess that the steel ones were dishwasher-safe, or were they originally dishwasher-safe and then Owala changed the recommendations? Do you usually put your ss one in the dishwasher, or do you usually handwash it?

How is the mouthpiece component? Does it come apart to clean efficiently? My last water bottle grew mold and the only way to prevent the mold was to break the pieces so it was obsolete at that point. I need a new bottle asap! I’m lost without one

What about the insulating duration vs non insulated? Like how much longer does water stay cool with the insulated version.

Great question- I've noticed the water stays cooler way longer in the insulated one. Like 6-8 hours more

Any idea how they hold up to drops? My daughter has dropped 2 other bottles recently and been devastated that the flip top lids broke. I’m trying to find something fun (she’s 4) but sturdy. Love the design of this and the colors! 💛

First day of school my son returned home and the flip top had completely popped off after one day. No damage to the body but that's because I found a great silicone sleeve that fits like a glove. I contacted Owala warranty dept and they sent me what appears to be a used replacement top with scratches and water marks...yuck! Great concept but the flip top is cheaply made and will not hold up with daily kid use. BTW It's been less than a month and the 19 oz. FreeSip SS insulated bottle is completely useless.
