Owen didn’t deserve this. People will bring up Emma, Cristina, and even Amelia, but each of those moments had some kind of precursor. This time, he dealt with their issues healthily. He went to counseling. Worked on himself. He opened up. He gave Teddy the benefit of the doubt and trusted her. He didn’t deserve this and the fact that he still gave her a chance to come clean so they could try to work through it and she looked him in the eyes and still lied speaks volumes.

He’s not really worse than others on the show. Alex was beloved and look at some of his past actions. Richard is beloved and is no less a cheater than Owen. Mark was beloved and he slept with his best friend’s wife. Best friends since childhood. Not just any old buddy. George cheated on Callie. Yes I understand that they are both cheaters. But it’s Not the same thing. At least Owen didn’t lie about cheating. At least he was remorseful and went to counseling. He was very understanding that is why he gave Teddy a chance to come clean. She still chose to lie. She doesn’t love she is just upset she got caught.

We all have to remember Teddy has been a conflicted person with her life’s choices. I’ll never forget how surprised I was to learn about her past relationships with women & a betrayal of her best friend?/partner? at the the time. It gave us a lot of insight into who she was & some decisions she’s made. She may not actually know who or what she truly wants. Tom was really into her & she was soaking it up.

@@Stonytude I think it was last season. Teddy bumped into someone she knew from some years back. As a result of them talking there were a lot of flashbacks of how they knew each other going back to the 9-11 terroist attacks in NY. I don’t want to give the wrong characters the storyline, but this is the jest of it. Teddy was having an affair with this woman’s partner. They were supposed to be good friends & Teddy broke that trust. The woman ultimately got killed in the towers, I think. When her partner listened to voice messages after her death, that’s how she found it. I think the deceased woman confessed her love for Teddy. I remember thinking I didn’t see that coming at all about Teddy’s past.

Krista Vernoff is really pushing that we're gonna understand why Teddy is doing everything she is. Anything shy of a brain tumour (and we can't put that past GA) will not take away the damage they've done to her character. I used to love Teddy but all of this is just WAY too messy to fix. Even when he cheated on Cristina he was actually remorseful and worried for her well being throughout that entire time and went through counseling and swore he would never do it again but teddy is just “I got caught I’m not sorry but please love me” The hurt is so real in this scene also the end of episode 21/season 16 when he went into the storage closet and played the video and you just see him sink into the floor... I never felt so bad for Owen

Teddy's character is pissing me off .. How is this pitiful sad excuse of a woman the same as the one we were introduced to back in season 6. This woman lacks self value, self worth .. just because her all life fantasy of Owen is now a reality? I don't think Teddy even realise how bad she is because she wants Owen/around him. The fact that Teddy wasn't even remorseful for her actions shows everything of what kind of person she is. Yes, Owen himself was a cheater. But unlike Teddy, he felt actual guilt of what he did. And he even gave her multiple chances to come clean so that they can work and salvage their relationship shows how much this meant to Owen. But in the end, he found out the simple truth, Teddy wasn't upset because she hurt Owen, she was upset because she got caught.

This show came out when I was nine years old, and I am now twenty-four years old. I have a profound appreciation for most of the characters and many of the storylines, because I quite literally grew up with them. I know I'm far from the only person who can say that, which is why it's so infuriating when things like this happen because it makes no sense. Not to people who remember Henry and how much Teddy supposedly loved him, but never mentions him or acknowledges that he even existed. Not to people who watched Christina love Owen when he was a broken man suffering from PTSD and trying to put his life back together. Not to anyone to remembers Teddy commanding respect and being deserving of it, but has now turned into the woman who cheats on her fiance on their wedding day, and legitimately tries to gaslight him into believing that he's the problem. It's not only annoying but disgusting. I'd love for Grey's to go on for as long as possible, especially with the abundance of painfully relevant real world issues to pull from. But turning once lovable and respectable characters into whatever this is, isn't character development or progress.
