I'm watching the show today, and I feel like, I am transported back, in years, watching the show, during afternoons. Love from South Africa, Oprah.❤

I miss you so much. There’s nothing inspiring like you on daytime anymore… Nothing I’m surprised nobody has tried to do uplifting deep thinking shows… It’s been over a decade 15 years… Nobody’s trying to copy you… We need you.

Actually, more people need to understand that mothers do a lot. The problem isn’t that the mother speaking here isnt doing anything. the problem is a society where her daughter can even have the idea that you’re not doing anything it’s like saying a teacher is not doing anything when a Mother is a round the clock teacher and so much more. That said , there is nothing wrong with wanting to have more of a balance with being a mom and finding something else to do.. and I say that not because being a mom isn’t a full-time occupation, but because it tends to be an occupation, where are you over give and you do need something else that is just your own.. ( thank you oprah for adding that right after i made my comment)

Also you don’t need to forgive your abuser.

We forgive to set ourselves free not to set the other person free.

I see forgiveness like this: It's about not letting the other person and what they did to you define the rest of your life. It's about taking the power back in your life. To say: this happend to me, it was horrendous, but it happend. And I will not allow this person's attack/behaviour/actions to further damage my life beyond this point. Which happens because we (understandably) relive the pain of the past time and time again in our present (trauma response). And so it is about embarking on a healing journey. To let the past experience move through you completely, dealing will all the feelings that come up during that proces. And so, forgiveness is not about 'letting slide' what the other person did to you. But indeed as the person above writes: it is to set ourselves free. We seek healing and let go of the burden of the energy we still carry inside of us as a result of the harmful event that was done to us. We take responsibility for how we deal with the trauma. A quote I remember Oprah once used: forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been different. And so it's in essence about the acceptance of 'what is', of reality. And then choosing to not let the other person's actions influence the rest of your life.

Forgiveness is for the forgiver--not for the forgiven.

I’d say you don’t have to *tell the abuser* that you forgive them. Forgive for yourself, but reconciliation is not always wise nor advised.
