I would love to see a documentary on the teenage boys perspective. Why they don’t feel responsible and walk away. Why aren’t they held accountable?
@Silvermoonscorpion

Likely bc they've had no real father figure. No one is rearing them. Whose going to hold them there and say 'you've gotta be accountable.'. It's a generational issue often. I'm not a church person but Memphis in this video is on the correct path, imo. **teen mom now 45

@@ambercooper4676 She didn't say bring joy, she literally said that the baby will be "there for HER". That's not even close to the same thing. She expects the baby to fill voids and be her emotional support, did you even watch the video and listen to how many how girls made similar comments? So many come from broken homes, so the thought of the baby as "someone that will love me forever" is all too common. Butt anyone who is a parent knows that while babies bring joy, they take a LOT out of you and bring responsibilities that these girls cant even fathom yet. A screaming infant isn't "there for you", especoally at 3 am when you haven't slept in days, you are there for the screaming infant. While babies do bring love and joy, having a baby shouldn't be about what the baby can give you, thats a recipe for disaster.

@Ilikefrogs..
@Ilikefrogs.. 4 жыл бұрын
@@jellybeans9283 Actually, recent stats (2018) have found that most teenage mothers have caught up to their peers in terms of career and education by the age of 30. Their children tend to experience long term side-effects from growing up in a stressful situation however. If you're someone who grew up in poverty, you'll be more likely to remain in poverty regardless of how old you are when you have children (being a teen mom of course makes this more likely), but if you grew up in a financially stable household and you have good social support (ie. a village to help raise your child) you'll probably be fine. in my opinion, the teen mothers who do end up succumbing to mental health issues like anxiety, depression and drug addiction are the ones with bad parents who kicked them out on to the street instead of supporting them so that they could finish high school and go to college.

@@Ilikefrogs.. YES X1000. I wish this comment could be pinned. Having a child regardless of age does not hinder success, education, or financial stability whatsoever. I had a few friends who got pregnant in high school. The one who had supportive parents owns her home and is a nurse. The one who had parents kick her out and also they lived in poverty.. well unfortunately it's living paycheck to paycheck driving around a hoopty for her. I think it's a case by case basis for every person

Perhaps society's strong negative judgement towards teen moms has something to do with so many not succeeding financially. Self fulfilling prophecy folks! It's like why do that to yourself Especially when the father doesn't stick around . I guess they feel they just have to stick with it

I think it’s neglect. A lot of the deprived kids feel like the baby will give them the love and attention that they crave and didn’t get because their parents worked so much and could watch over them. The issue is a baby is needy and needs love and attention from the parent not the other way around.
@TeaCup1940
@TeaCup1940 12 күн бұрын
@@freya5703In my opinion, the ones that keep the baby do the right thing. They are selfless and actually want to be there for their child. The girl that gives her baby up for adoption to me seems cold and not willing to take on the responsibility. She seems selfish to me, putting her needs and wishes before his child's. She never considered how the adoption would negatively impact her son. The other girls are much more admirable, because they just don't give up their child to some strangers. They are actually taking responsibility and trying to do the best they can.

We broke the cycle and are going to consciously and responsibly educate our kids when they are entering those teenage years about being safe and how to use birth control and condoms to prevent pregnancy and STD’s. To all teen moms (and responsible teen dads) watching this video: Do NOT allow the put downs and bad predictions influence YOUR outcome in YOUR life. Instead, use that negativity to light that fire in you to prove it all wrong. Even if at times you feel as though your life is over--trust me, it's not. RISE ABOVE. Your child(ren) is/are your motivation to improve your situation in life. Be constantly resourceful. Make a plan. Adjust your plan frequently and as needed. Keep fighting and moving forward. Yes, your education and dreams may be harder now to accomplish, but you can still obtain what you want in life while being as good a parent as you can be. I wish someone had had ONE good comment or word of encouragement for me--but as this documentary illustrates--the vast majority of influential adults around a teen parent will only offer prejudiced and negative commentary. I was a teen mom at age 15 and at age 18. I lived through abject poverty even bouncing from homeless shelter to homeless shelter for a year in my early 20's. I never lost hope I would one day be able to go to med school to be a doctor which was a lifelong dream. In any way I could, I was always working toward it whether getting a GED, taking college night classes after work, working 2 jobs and selling Avon on the weekends--- anything I had to do to always be responsible for my children's livelihood and the attainment of my goals. It took me until I turned 42 to graduate from residency as a physician. Not one of my 3 children ever became parents in their teens. In their 30's and late 20's now without children. All of them responsible, productive citizens. And I now earn a very comfortable living and it gives me great joy to help them in any way possible. You can do it-- don't let anyone or anything tell you differently. They harder life pushes you down, the harder you push back! Sending you all prayers and love.

Jevonte Hodge You obviously know nothing about the cycle of poverty. These teenagers did not choose to be brought up in poverty, surrounded by systematic and societal ills. As much as Americans like to think people can do it on their own, those people are the exception to the rule. People in poverty need help to climb the rungs of a caste system, and they definitely don’t get it from a society like the US that constantly punishes the poor and under privileged. Read any journal articles on the subject. The proof is in the pudding. All societies that help each other (Higher taxes, more government help) have better societal, health and education standards. I live in Canada and we aren’t perfect here but damn, living here is a dream compared to the US.

I have the perfect solution. Have these teens in at-risk schools do community service at a day care. Ive been a preschool teacher for 4 years and it really put me off from having kids. Once they realize all the work that goes into taking care of a baby and then when they realize it gets even more difficult when they turn 2. They will really think twice. Plus itll be great to have extra helpers in the classroom, especially since teens have more energy to run around with and bond with the kids.

Additionally, Atheism is not a Eurocentric concept. While the first concept was recorded in Greece in the 5th century, Atheists simply reject all deities. How exactly is that Eurocentric? The US is really a third world country. In third world countries teenage girls are forced to marry. If given a choice these girls would have preferred to study. But in the US, with all the freedom, these girls get pregnant. And the vicious cycle will repeat itself in the next generation.

Yes. Teenage pregnancy makes a wealthy country third world, even though there are literally countries with girls who hardly even know what a pad or tampon is. Great logic. 🙄

The choices we make can delay our goals, but things can improve if you're patient enough to work through it.

I am 36 years old and just ad my first planned baby. I’m married and we both have good jobs however I still worry if I can give everything to my child as she needs. Everything it’s so expensive and it’s hard to raise a baby. I cannot imagine what these girls are going through alone. It’s so sad I wish them all to have a good life and their babies too unfortunately that’s not reality

The white teen mom's situation is nothing like the brown and black teen moms. Growing up upper middle class and poverty makes a huge difference.

Poor people still have the option or abortion and adoption. So idk why alot of them don't take the route and just keep the baby especially when all the odds are against them

*Latonya is gorgeous!! I hope that girl still pushes herself to be won and what she wants to be!! Sadly, there are so many men that run but being a single mom.... it's not impossible!! Struggles happen, but anyone can get through it!!*

Being a new dad at 32 with a career with a spouse with her own career was tough. I cant imagine doing it as a single teen with no job or support. Jeez.

Quickest way to poverty or stay in poverty is teen pregnancy or teen parents! Data don’t lie. I pray for teen parents and children.

The young Appalachian Dad of 2 is a very unique young man. Most young dads just bolt...this young man should be commended for doing what is right and trying to be a parent and provider. We need to have more education available to young teens so that they don’t make these life altering decisions that’s never good for all involved.

I literally feel anger and upset for these girls at the same time. Things happen to people but babies having babies is a lot. Some people make it work but others have real difficulties. I really wish them all well with their futures though.

The mothers are likely to have had more fatherless children, unless they have died from Aids. The children will have either had their own children or be developing their criminal career
