I was a teen mom and had 4 children by 22. Started college at 34 while working full time and I am a licensed social worker and still married to my hs sweetheart and father to my children. If it wasn't for him, I could never have fullfilled my dream of higher education and my dream career. It is the exception. I was tired of being so poor. But, I also see my friends who were married older than us and more than half are divorced. Just happens who you marry and the willingness to work on sustaining a marriage. It's hard for me to pat myself on the back most times. But, I am a very strong and persistent person who came from a home with an alcoholic parent. I see so much worse in other families. Thanks. @saraportela59328 ай бұрын
@@mariec3527 @blue8710 i think we're forgetting here that the fact that sophie came from an affluent family also gave her better options when it came to adoption, if you think about any of the other babies of the other families portrayed getting even the remote chance of being adopted by such a nice and affluent family as teo was, those chances are slim to none. they would most likely be placed in foster care and be children of the system, being passed around until they turned 18. the fact that sophie's family was wealthy gave her the privilege of choosing, for 'certain', a better life for her child, and that's something we don't talk about and acknowledge enough.

@MK-2858 ай бұрын
They technically didn't "let" her. Agreeing to an open adoption, you have to adhere to certain guidelines such as number of visits, frequency, duration, all of it prior to approval of the adoption. Granted, each open adoption is different. & I agree with you, they're still very nice people. Seems they live close, & no matter the minimum amount of time Sophie is scheduled to spend with him, it does seem they have an open door policy, where she's allowed over as often as she'd like. My brother has 2 adopted children, 1 open & 1 closed. The closed one is just that. The birth mother selected the adoptive parents (my brother & SIL) but has had no contact or information since finalization. For the open adoption, they are required to take my nephew on 1 annual visit to the birth mother. She lives out of state several hours away, & there is an organized gathering for all the birth parents & adoptive parents, along with the children, of course, to get together. They make the visit part of a family vacation, stopping off to see his birth mother before going to the beach, or some other family getaway. I often worry about how these 2 differences in one family will affect them each when they're older. The 2 adoptees also have an older brother biologically born to my brother & SIL. We almost lost both the baby & my SIL when she was in labor & a hysterectomy was necessary to save her life. Adoption was a beautiful way for them to give siblings to their 1st born & to have the family they've always dreamed of.
@jernisharichard50328 ай бұрын
@@MK-285 yes, 🥲 I understand the ends and outs of adoption. Well they will be family, at the end of the day, we all are. I suspect they will have their own feelings about it, and want to know who they came from, as for as "blood related mattes", which is understandable. That is a beautiful story, and thank God she made it, sounds like a close call 😬. Seems like you have a nice family 😊 💖. Love and the word of God will make all the difference. They'll understand 🙏🏽

I think Teo z mom talks about herself and her feelings a lot as a mom it becomes totally about your son . i understand her occasionally seeing him but i dont think it healthy for either of them to spend so much time together

Why dind't LaTonya abort? I know it's not easy but with one baby already, it is frankly very irresponsible, those poor kids don't deserve that!

Mother of baby who has a sibling on the way had better get down and file first for child support payment or your child may lose out! Let baby daddy go . He is a player. Don't let him drag you down. No Fighting in front of the children.

I know I'm the bad guy in thinking Sophie is selfish but I'm happy her son is being raised properly and is safe

I thought the same.

Nope. Stop shaming women for making mature decisions when they know in their heart that they aren’t ready to raise a child. It’s not something to take lightly just because you “love” the baby. THAT’S the true selfish act. Having a baby when you’re not ready. Keeping the baby and raising them in less than ideal conditions is how children grow up with severe mental health problems.

@@Yes_Anastasia Relax. Nobody is being shamed. People are entitled to a quiet opinion.

The selfish ones are the fathers, who for the most part are no where to be seen.....

Kids cost way more than 10k in 12 months even when this was fillmed
@TeaCup19402 ай бұрын
How? Diapers and formula for one year do not cost 10K. Also clothes you can get from donations if you want to. Food you only need a little bit, they do not eat that much as babies. They only cost 10K if you buy them a lot of unnecessary expensive stuff they do not need. Most things you can buy used or get from friends or people that do not need it anymore. Some people even sell cribs at a very low price. They sell toys and everything. Only formula and diapers you need to buy new.

I was annoyed that the interviewer was bringing down the optimistic teen mom. Like why you making her feel bad?
@TeaCup19402 ай бұрын
Because the narrative is that the only good choice is to give the baby up for adoption. The documentary is clearly biased towards that.
