Good video lots of good information a couple things I would like to add is get a good warranty on your truck is very important. If you go for your own authority you can use a factoring company and get paid with in 24 hrs. only costs 1.5 to 2.5 %. It is crazy some of these company lease operators they are pay a crazy high weekly payment some are setup for failure thanks for sharing your video.

glad your putting out your research. look at the tuck payment is a big one. Trl can be rented or bought. I got into flatbed. leased one $550 a month with insurance. I bought a better one. $400 a month with insurance. I have a paid for 96 Freightliner. $12,000 cash. I saved up the money to get it as a company driver.

Benjamin Duke Awesome! I did something very similar to u. I bought a 2007 frieghtliner Colombia cashed for 13,000. It's obviously old but the fact I have no payments and my insurance is $100 a month, i should have no reason not to repair anything that breaks.

the insurance for bobtail is about $2,500 yr with $25,000 replacement. Trl $600 yr with $25,000 replacement. then if you pay where you lease on at normally $850 month . Your paying $13,300.00 yr. if you get you own authority first year, it depending on state and credit score, $10,500- $14,500.00. then in the next 3 years it should drop to $8,500- $10,500.00. got my quotes from NASTC northland insurance.

Trucker BB Great video - we'll be sure to check them all out. Husband's getting ready to retire but we would still like work another 10 years. We once owned a business that had us on the road a lot, which we loved. Thinking of buying a used truck outright. Any advice for older drivers just getting into trucking? Thanks for the great videos!

Thats going to be real hard To get insurance and financing He will have to go to maybe Prime Inc and get the exp or research companys that will hire your truck and get you insurance and all your paperwork set up There are companys out there that will hire a driver with his own truck with no exp But You will really have to research that one Good Luck and hope all goes well on your adventure
@L.J.01
@L.J.01 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! We'll check out Prime Inc. No need for financing, thinking used tractor/trailer -which some say lowers insurance (because there is no collision?). Also we don't want to invest too much at first so used is better. We see a lot of older folks driving - do you know of anyone he could talk to that started this late? Also wondering if you recommend any specific insurance companies we could call to get an idea of cost. Thanks again!

your asking good questions. your learning the difference from wants to how I feel I should be seen, to what I need to move this load and be profitable. talk to a CPA. what ever you where making as a company driver and paying in taxes that's about what your gonna be doing. it normally come to 16% of your wages. $1000.00-16% = $160 a week $640 a month. just some rough math. depending on how your set up sole owner, or LLC or S Corp this well change. after your second tax season or filing you should know what to have. as long as you don't owe them taxes you can pay at end of year on. fed for sole , and LLC. state you'll have to look up. I'm my home state it's end box Year. if you can not pay it then you must do 1/4ly.

As you said finding a niche, and making it as profitable as you can is what it takes. one set up I pick them drop, $1350.00 all miles 679. 1.99. up 2 block back down $1200.00 then 21m dh to $1350.00. then $1200. then home for the weekend. pick Monday. that is a niche I hope it lasts. that's $5100.00 home Friday morning to do paperwork. if you lease where I'm at your out $1224.00. after researching and asking it about 8% for office work to include 2.5% for factoring. 8% =$408.00. lease company made profit $816. $5100.00 run your numbers see what you get. on that weeks run fuel runs me avg( I-77) $875.00 a week. my fix cost $975.. wage $1000.00. 5100.00- 24%= 3876- 2850= profit 1224.00. depends on what you call succeeding. X how many weeks you can keep it rolling.

as you said you can do a video on each topic and easily. I'm currently looking at moving to a lease company that is 15/85. instead of 24/76 or getting my authority. to be honest so far authority seems the way to go using brokered loads in all cases. if the 15/85 has good paying direct freight, in where I run, that would be a huge advantage. I normally do not get to plan out weekly runs, it is day by day.

taxes. let's truck accounting, profit gauges $19.00 a month. takes me about 45 mins once a month. the system tells you everything you can take off, with description. I pay myself 1,000 a week. I put that in as wages. it breaks it down in per mile rate. as of June 30. it cost me $1.47 all miles to move a load. company I'm leased to is 24/76. I'm getting roughly 1.97 loaded miles. knowing your numbers is key to this industry of 3-5% profit. after all bills and $600 a week back in maintaining $5000.00 profit.

please for the love of god , please stop using the term "back haul" it's all freight. when you use that term you let shippers and brokers know you are in a weak negotiating position. it let's them know you really need that freight and will be willing to low ball. work a triangle or a box never go straight back home. unless hometime is more important than profit. thanks for giving baack to the community.

fuel, in my 5 years of research Nastc is about the best for a small Guy. I have mom and pop fuel stops in the lanes I normally run in. I pay cash or CC. it $.30-$.45 less then Loves, TA with out Nastc, Pilot, or a mega truck stop. show $12. I still spend less, points don't make up the difference in my math. if you find places that cash and CC is same price you get points for buying fuel and then pay it that week or month you get points again. I know if I hit one place a good bit I'll get a refund of $20 on a visa cc I use.

O/o using goggles maps for directions that a real trucker for u
@BryanBails
@BryanBails 5 жыл бұрын
Oh you one of those super truckers. Lol. Where did you learn to spell.
@BryanBails
@BryanBails 5 жыл бұрын
I dont use google maps for directions. I use it for real time updates with upcoming delays wrecks. Construction to save time and make more money. You know when i have my maps on and theres a 3 hour delay on the highway and truckers like you that dont use them keep going and are stuck on the highway for 3 to 4 hours. And because i had my maps on. Went around it in 5 min and kept on rolling. I dont get paid by the mile or hourly. Thats the difference between stupid truckers and successful ones. Work smarter and not harder. I had maps on made my delievery and your late because your a super trucker that works harder. Lol. So yes google maps is a good business advantage. Company truckers could care less about making more money. But when you own a truck and trailer you take all the benefits to make your business more profitable.
