After owning my 2011 Infiniti M56x for 5 years and putting on around 83,000 miles on it I decided to give a quick recap of how those 5 years were as far as reliability, etc. are concerned.
As discussed in the video, here are the links:

I've been looking at this car for months, it's basically a Japanese muscle car. I was looking at the charger rt for a while, but then I saw the numbers. I think it's the best bang for the buck , this car is everything the rt is and more. I can't wait to get mine.

Thanx for posting this review. 8 days ago on sat 5/16/2020 in tempe AZ I bought a 2011 M56 S with 63k on the odometer for just a tad south of $17k. Its black with a mix of red (not sure what exact color that is considered) but so far love it. When I am driving it I can just feel all that power is waiting for me and ready for me to use anytime I need it. No it wont get the gas mileage of a prius but if gas mileage and power is what you want get a Tesla. So far no major issues other than the hood wont stay open when I lift it up and the info/entertainment system doesnt seem to read my USB port of MP3 songs when I attach it the center console. It does recognize it as it says "reading". But I am spending 20-30 minutes a day here and there just going in and playing with the info/entertainment/nav system. Fortunately I can just go into ACC mode and not have to actually have the motor running in order to play with it. I know some people say they are afraid of the maintenance bills for a big super fast complex car with all these gadgets. But other than playing music and using the nav system I dont really plan on using much else. And you hit the nail on the head when u mentioned that "u take care of a car, it will take care of u". I am going to take it to my local shop and have the oil changed even though the info system says it has another 3750 miles tilll I need one. Pamper a car and it will pamper u.

@@FstLaneUkraine 1. do you mean the power steering rack on the rear for 4WAS HICAS? 2. Can you give me your thoughts/opinion oiling issue with M56s? -> They do have an oiling issue that the trucks do not have. It creates a lot of sludge. So if you hangs your oil, even 300 miles later it's going to be sludge. It's working but it's not circulating as well as it could and getting too hot up near the top of the cylinder heads. A private Nissan/Infiniti mechanic pointed this out and basically said that it's rare to see them run over 200K

Its not the valve train. Its the mechanical high pressure fuel pump and the direct injection fuel injectors that run at 80 volts to open against the 2,000+ psi fuel pressure. My trans went out at 130K.

Throttle response is TERRIBLE over 85°F outside. Iften felt like I was going to get killed in mine. Oil temps over 210°F was the cause. An oil cooler fixed that issue for me. Mine had random misfire P0300 at 100K from carboned intake valves. Walnut shell blasted the valves and it ran perfect after.

The M37 and the successor Q70/70L is a pretty solid and for the most part very reliable platform. Some say the styling is dated but it works and can be under estimated in terms of design, performance, handling and ride. If this one does give up the ghost I would recommend trying to find a Q70/70L if possible. Get the latest model year you can find and although no major styling changes from M series to Q70/70L but fairly modern, some would say too simple interior and equipment but again effective and decent value. I compared against the Audi A6, BMW 5 and 7 series, Mercedes E class, newer Volvos (20-5 and newer) and even other competence Pacific Rim vehicles, (Acura TLX/RLX, Lexus GS/LS series etc..... Comparison was objective however with a slight bias since I had a 2012 M37 so that was able to give me a idea ogle how the platform worked with handling, performance,ride, technology and equipment etc.... Almost 125K I would change the struts and that should give you a few more years of enjoyment. There are fairly frequent reports of 300K miles which in your case could be another five-ten years. $3000 is a bit much for the intake manifold and won’t try to see if independent repair shop with either Infiniti specific or Foreign Auto Repair specialist. Since you are going with the struts being removed that could also be a good time to replace other high mileage wear items (Ball Joints, Tie Rod, bushings, hub bearing assembly if applicable and alignment. The rust also needs to be addressed especially in NY, it will spread through. Even with $4-5K in repairs that is still way cheaper than a new vehicle unless you go with the trad field newer Q70/70L plan. Don’t fall for the “Maintenance Free” transmission either. They say maintenance free because the dealer wants to sell you either new transmission or better yet new vehicle. There is a way to drain and refill the transmission fluid. There is no filter like older models but even fresh fluid is better than nothing. The M35/37 and Q70/70L still have some systems that can be done without dealer intervention which makes it nice. Plugs, belts, brakes, fluids, filters can be done at home with fairly basic tools and minor-moderate mechanical skills. I would say that unless there are other problems that suspension, tires, brakes, fluids and the intake manifold repair might be expensive but should get you another five-ten years. Engine and powertrain have a pretty good history of reliability and long term durability. You might have heard that some older Japanese vehicles will still have running engines even if the body rusts out around it. The M/Q70/70L is a pretty good example of that concept. Good luck!!

The motor is ever so slightly different but generally speaking if you take care of it, it'll generally take care of you 👍

Was that android auto? Was it factory installed or a 3rd party install?
@FstLaneUkraine

Hi there. Yes, that was Android Auto. It's a third party install and I have two videos on my channel reviewing the setup along with a link to a step by step installation document I wrote on NICOClub. Thanks for watching!

My 2011 M37s has a leaking steering rack (rack & pinion) on the drivers side. That may be why yours is dropping steering fluid. It just comes with wear. I will have to get that Rack and Pinion replaced at some point, but I'm just waiting for the right time. Check that out for that symptom (if you haven't already). I'd be curious if that's the cause.
@FstLaneUkraine
@FstLaneUkraine 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, sorry if my video wasn't clear but I had the rack replaced within a month of moving to FL. Was about $1,500 IIRC but I had some other service performed as well. Steering is nice and tight now.

Is their maintenance really expensive?
@FstLaneUkraine

I do my own maintenance so I can't really speak to how much it costs to own this car if relying on shops. My own oil changes though cost me like $65 in parts. Thanks for watching!

If you’re constantly filling up maybe its leaking from the hose. I did that with my rad hose and it fixed. Just think maybe it would be the ideal situation. Unless you fixed it issue

Gonna look at a silver one this week, I’m excited. I hope they give me a good deal. I was going to buy a Lexus GS460 but it sold soon as they got it. Now those are even more rare. I had a 2008 GS350 and loved it but I want a V8 luxury sport sedan now.
