I love watching Card n all gaming videos about his view on the current market and his view on how new sets will perform according to his opinion. Also just in general how a day in the business looks like and maybe the concerns u have about certain sets or the market. Just to name some idead that i would love to watch viedeos about from u. There plenty videos like this about english pokemon but not so many about japanese pokemon i think, at least not from business owners that sell japanese pokemon. @@pokene_pokemon

As someone that likes to buy a lot of singles to grade then sell and keep some for myself, i stopped buying english quite some time ago. Almost always a lost as every card pretty much tanks in price. That shining magikarp from celebrations i pulled when it came out is $8 now, while the jp one is still going for $50. When english sets doesnt have a card worth over $150-200 the boxes are likely to be cheap. While nearly every jp set has a card going for $300 on release but i think things are also slowing down for jp

Greetings from Germany! Thank you man I’m really forward for your content. I just started a small side business with my son. It’s like you say it’s fun in the beginning but since I only have a few k budget I’m always worried about not buying illiquid stuff and keep things rolling. I have like 1 sale a day on average (started 1 month ago) I wonder how long it takes until I can sell like 10 items a day

I really like your ‘fireside’ chat sessions. Thanks for sharing the insights. At the end of the day, making money and being profitable are the fundamentals to long term success which is why the online model would be the only way I’d open a card business. Yes, the fun factor is great but time is limited. Sounds like your solution is to hire more of your cousins. 😉 Keep truckin’! Enjoy your content immensely!

Just read “work less, make more” not too long ago…. Would just outsource the robotic parts of the job like orders, packing, and shipping, so you can focus on live streaming and content creation… the author was all about outsourcing freeing up your time. The stories in there remind of your story and the solutions the author provided.

It’s a great idea in theory but since I operate outa my house it’s just not feasible if I want a semblance of a home life. I could get a warehouse but with commercial real estate being 8K a month - on top of the cost of labor, it’s not realistic right now. Maybe some day!!

If you profit 350k a year selling cards and haven't hired someone to do all the grunt worth for 50k a year while you stream and expand that's on you. You could be living large and chilling.

Owning a business in general regardless of the type is never fun lol. And being over leveraged happens in every type of business no matter physical or service based. I have ran many successful businesses including my music career, I think this business advice is applicable to any business. Most people romanticize business ownership it’s never fun in the end. The only thing that is truly fun is having fun itself.

It's sucks when you become desensitized to the thing you loved doing. Sorry you're going through that, hope you can gain the passion back for it. Have you thought about training a team to help take off some of the workload stress? Specifically in the southwest of the states. PokeAZ branch ftw
@resngaming2640

There will always be a level of desensitization anytime you monetize a hobby or turn it into a business. Whether it's dealing with finances, customers, or the constant content grind. It can really negate some of the passion for the hobby you had in the first place. I'm definitely going through it with video games as a business.

This is what’s interesting about this.. you’re talking about 400-500k a month in sales but talking about making 10$ a box, sometimes losing in shipping, taking losses on 3 Pokémon sets..taxes, fees, etc.. How much are you actually making for yourself ??

English sets are really rough right now, but we make a ton on Korean and do well on most Japanese boxes. it just varies set by set. overall we're a volume dealer which means a lot of qty and not a ton margin. We clear anywhere from 25-35K a month depending on set which is good enough for us living in Omaha NE

Thank you for the reality check. However, I wonder with you having scaled your business to where it is. Why aren't you employing people to pack the products or focus or marketing. Taking time off your hands, which you can put in other aspects of your company? Looking at your video's with the amount stated you make 1 or 2 people hired, wouldn't affect you to much financially and gives you a lot of extra free time. Or am I missing something?

The only reason we havent yet is we operate out of out home and quite frankly we dont like people lol. Im not excited to have someone in my basement that isnt my best friend or family member. We considered moving operations out of the home but that would be $6K/month for a nice place in west omaha on top of the kids salary which is pretty steep when you add it all up. Plus I hate driving, and hate leaving my dogs - there reallly isnt a solution where i fully win so im just going to keep doing this for now. When we have a child one day, ill need to change
