I definitely know that feeling of wanting to hold a reptile right when you get one, but I quickly learned not to after on the first day of holding my first gecko he made a run for my back. I was so worried he'd get lost, luckily a family member was there to grab him and we laughed at the situation. Luckily my second gecko was 3-4 months old when I got her and re-homed to me. Idk why but she LOVES being held, and she is super food motivated. Unfortunately she's gon through 4 different homes and not the best of care before I got her but I'm so happy to call her my bumpy reptile family member.💖

I put my hatchling BP into a five by two by three enclosure after a week in a small tank and I do not regret it all. He is confident curious and incredibly sweet. He does spend a lot of time in his favorite hide but when he does come out he uses every inch of it and has since the day I got him. It's a common idea in the ball python world that they will be afraid if you put them in too big an enclosure as a baby but that is totally not true.

He is fascinating and I love his zebra-like pattern - it'll be interesting to see that develops. You've given Rex an amazing enclosure with so many places to explore, hide, sleep, and with a very significant thermal gradient he can use to get comfortable. I'm already looking forward to the next update!

You want to feed them meals about the size of their head (finely diced or mashed), and ime they will eat high quality cat food even if they refuse everything else. Mine wouldn't touch bugs, but she liked squash puree, egg & mashed fruit as a baby (she only wants protein now & I have to sneak her veggies). They *can* get overwhelmed in large enclosures (or fall and hurt themselves, babies are a bit clumsy & they don't take falls as well as arboreal geckos) so you might wanna consider partitioning it if he keeps refusing food

I have a leopard gecko that I uniquely named "Gecko". I have him in a 92cm L x 46cm W x 30cm H PVC enclosure that I have decorated to look fairly close to a leopard gecko's natural environment. I gave him an appropriate heat lamp and UVB bulb that I can definitely changed his behavior slightly. I feed Gecko dubi roaches and mealworms and occasionally a superworm (he really likes to eat dubi roaches). Also, for some reason, he seems to really like to be taken out of his enclosure, because he'll make that little chirping noise that you talked about in one of your videos. Oh, and a cute thing he did a couple days ago is that he was sitting on my chest and kinda lean forward a bit a licked my cheek a bit (I know that this isn't an affection thing, but it was adorable nonetheless).

Hi, im hopefully soon getting a leopard gecko and i jist wanted to ask a few questions. I have watched multiple of your videos and just need an answer to a little question. In one of your videos you had shown us the basics of a leopard geckos viv. And the heat mat was on the wood, do you need to put anything under it because it says on multiple websites it heats both sides and can start a fire in a wooden viv. Just wanted to ask because nobody likes a fire.

No I didn't with that one, but I think there's some issue with the stick on ones (if they still make them). The temp is only 30-32oC so should set wood on fire anyway :') but just double check with whichever heat mat you're using :)

So he's meant to be about 3 months at this point but he's so small. From what I've read some of them can be and they are slow growers, so it can take up to 2-3 years to reach full maturity. They're slimmer than BTS, but they get to about 15-18" and like 115+ grams. Males are generally a bit bigger.

No, go for it! haha. Lyra lives in a 24 x 18 x 24" and uses all of it, I'm sure a little extra room would be great.
