I honestly really enjoyed owning the Suzuki JIMNY for the past week while the F250 had its exhaust done by Torqit.
Knowing zero about this vehicle I had no idea what to expect.

It's interesting to hear from someone who has no expectations and no axe to grind. Speaking as an owner, they are pretty fun to drive around town, fairly ordinary on the freeway, and way, waaaay more fun off road. Provided you drive them appropriately as for any SWB 4WD, it will take you anywhere the big boys go, even if you leave it stock as a rock. It's a little mountain goat. There are a couple of things I've learned to absolutely avoid doing: 1 offroad, with a severe roll angle (30 degrees), avoid dropping your lower side front wheel into a hole. 2 At highway speeds, do not for one single minute instant take your eyes off the road. Do those two things, and you'll get home in one piece with your vehicle unscathed. The obligatory third thing I''ve got to say to be fair, wading depth unmodified is 300mm, which isn't too bad in terms of real specs compared to most vehicles (specs which get ignored by most I might add) so if you do deep water or mud, service all whirry boxes (Four of) ASAP, it's common sense yeah?

One can get a retrofit supercharger from Ozzieland, or a bolt-on turbo kit. In South Africa 🇿🇦, a few jokesters have installed Nissan/Renault's 1500 dCi motor with success, albeit with a final drive gearing kit to bring revs down quite a bit.

Originally AU$26K drive away...now the availability has been strangled, the scalpers are asking $40K+ and getting it! 12-18 months wait time if you ask any dealer....BUT there's a Suzuki dealer in WA who is direct importing them for Aussie buyers @ $31K.

Those things are awesome. You can get a rotrex supercharger for them which gives them 200 hp. They are only 27 k but there is a massive wait hence why they are selling for 40k. lso they come standard with a 40L fuel tank 😐so they need some mods for touring

@@a.g.rhithwik Not really, and the ECU is very difficult to program to take advantage of the supercharger. Also, not incredibly useful when 4WDing in a very light vehicle, unless you enjoy damaging tracks.

Back in the 90's I had a Holden Drover which was the Sierra clone and like you said Ty nippy around the city and a bucket of fun on the weekend in the mud and sand, my girlfriend's uncle at the time wouldn't own or drive anything else other than a Sierra, he said when the wet season hit in the NT when he'd travel up there, that he could get through places where all the big Patrols and Landcruisers would get bogged, and they're bloodywell nigh on bomb proof!

Being so much lighter and narrower than big Utes and wagons makes the Jimny much more nimble. There are trade offs, but lightweight camping gear, a long-range tank and non-road-legal lifts and tyres make them just as effective for most 4WDing. The short wheel base make them less than ideal for Rock Crawling and obscene drops like Gunshot and you will not be able to act as a recovery vehicle for other larger 4WDs.

ARB Summit bars look like ARB Summit bars on any car. I'm personally not a fan. Just like Outback Accessories, ECB and the IronMan Commercial bar, they look very Grandpa. The XROX Bar looks very teenager. The IronMan Special and Offroad Animal Predator look much nicer and are much more complementary, especially on lighter coloured paintwork like Yellow, White or Taupe. Hamer also do front and rear bars for the Jimny, but they don't seam to be marketed for Australia. Internationally, MasterForest in France do excellent bars, for all model Jimny's and there are lots of nice bars out of Japan; My favourite minimalist bar is the High-Bridge First. If you want to keep it factory-looking, HM4x4 in Italy, MasterForest and East Coast Bull Bars do Hidden winch bars which keep a low centre-of-gravity. There is also a couple available with a higher centre of gravity and integrated recovery points.

40k sounds bloody steep. I googled them and they go for 25k. That makes sense. No way anyone would pay 40k for a whole 73kw and 6.5 ltrs/100ks and no carry space 🤣. Cant believe they don't get far better power and economy out of 1.5 ltrs these days. Zook need to up thier game. I bet they make a more powerful, economical and smaller bike motor.

You are all so unlucky where I live in NZD I am paying $31k including onroad costs, accessories AND that’s in NZ dollars. Conversion rate should mean that in AUD it should be much cheaper!!! That is insane!!!

I went to dealership yesterday and they said a brand new Jimny costs 32k but have to wait till Aug. If you can wait could pay 32k otherwise you will pay more extra.
