What makes the Fiat X19 such a practical car.

Thank you for your enthusiasm showing your car, it looks very nice. I have one very similar here in Spain, just LHD and I've changed the wheels to 14' but those originals are very special ones. This car is a master design for all the details you show here. I hope you enjoy your car as I do mine, that's the idea!

I added a non return valve on the fuel line solved the hot starts found that the fuel returns back to the tank as the fuel pump non return valves fail after time

what did you do to the engine? It does not sound at all as a FIAT 1500cc!

*I had 3 of these. Inside you feel like you're going 100 MPH while outside you're only doing 50.* No power steering or brakes and yet you don't need it. It handles like a go cart but with a suspension that keeps you from being punished for having fun. It doesn't need more horsepower, only more twisty roads.

I noticed the nearside headlight doesn't park in the open position it starts to close before it stops. Try adjusting the fundamental angle on the motor driveshaft spline, slacken the bump stop, adjust the turnbuckle and bump stop together to remove any freeplay.

@@davidmoult5770 you might need to adjust the beam down a bit as well, assuming the car was MoT'd as it was in the video👍

Two things David What size k and n filter and where from . Second point engin vent is great but what happens if it rains water in the engin

I just looked it up on the K and N supplier web site. As for rain, when the car is driving rain doesn't seem to get in. If parked outside overnight I have made a folding aluminised plastic cover to fit under the lid. It's only the distributor and coil that need to protecting. It will be a lot more protected than the in early Mini electricals.

Hi David, is that the crank breather going to a small air filter? If so, what size or what type of filter did you use for the job. Many thanks.

No, it just goes down under the car, the carburettor is spotless and helps emissions so it is a decision.

Thanks David. I've now got my late father's 87 D reg with 46k miles in black. I've added a k&n and an electric fuel pump, so it starts pretty well now. Keep making the vids. Suspension or brakes would be interesting.

Hello, I live in the UK and I am building a modified X1/9 at the moment. These cars have great potential. 180 bhp is possible on throttle bodies, also close ratios, arb's, coilovers, and lsd's are available. I understand people like originality but that means low power, weak box, open diff, skinny tyres, and body roll.

Had one of these in my early 20's in the US. Really loved the car but it was a real job to keep it running. Also, US pollution regulations required it be detuned so it wasn't quick, but it did handle great.

I’ve owned 6 Fiat X/19’s since 1986, and there are few more involving and enjoyable cars to drive. How well they survive is really up to the owner. The biggest problem is rust, so it’s best to keep them dry, and mine stayed garaged in winter or on rainy days. The next worst problem is the electrics, which is easily fixed by putting in all modern components.
