Thanks! Good point about the speakers. I do also think that it serves for ventilation to some degree, the speakers are normally small and won't benefit from from perforated holes along the entire length, they would just be at the sides.

I had found out about the video stuttering (youtube on web browsers) on these gaming laptop (it can happen on gaming desktops as well with similar setup) that has dual GPU (igpu with descrete GPU) the hardware acceleration does put extra stress on the weak iGPU (if it is very weak like Intel HD graphics). And thus causing stuttering on video streaming. So, it is best to turn it off. That way you wouldn't have to worry about see the horrible screen stuttering (or tearing in some cases).

I do all of that and I use vegas 17 I just got done recording VRchat at 1080p60p resolution ran perfectly fine though I would recommend upgrading ram a lot of people are complaining about temps but I'm running core temps and the numbers are good never goes into 80s I think it's because they didn't add ram and it's stressing the computer out right now I'm running 24gigs of ram in mine

I got this laptop from the HP website. It’s currently on sale. The starting price is $660 with a 144Hz panel. I upgraded to 12gb Ram and the white version and payed around $760 with taxes. I think it was a pretty good deal. Hope it performs well.

Depends on what games you play. Honestly, you probably won't be only playing only AAA titles at ultra settings so the performance is pretty good for the specs. The 144 hz screen is great. The 1650 is only slightly worse than the 1660 ti max-q

Great video. I have last year’s model and they get hot like you said. Disabling cpu turbo by making max cpu 99% in power management and using a fan tray helps a lot. I may look into adding another dimm for duel chan.

I have an i5-9300h with a base clock speed of 2.4 GHz, I tried disabling turbo by changin max cpu in power management but nothing seems to happen. Even if I set it at something like 10%, the cpu is running at 4 Ghz. Am I missing something?

Big tech youtubers can say what they want, while they edit their videos on their ailenware laptops, this is a really great laptop, which yes does have a fairly loud speaker, but besides that its really nice, I got the HP Pavillion 15 Gaming laptop with a Intel core 9th gen i5 processor, nvidia geforce GTX 1650, 8 gb ram, 256gb ssd and a 15.6 almost bezzleless screen, it looks and feels like a more expensive model, and the audio is great for this price point, i git mine for $473, In my opinion this is a really great laptop, and now all of my friends are jellous. Hahah.

Mine has Hynix 2666 MHz ram , you can check yours by downloading CPU-z and on the SPD tab it will give you the timings. I put in a 2TB seagate barracuda 7mm drive.

I was considering buying this laptop but a friend of mine suggested me to go for the Ryzen 4600H variant of HP pavilion with same gpu because the performance is better than this one. Here I have Few doubts, I’m Planning to use the laptop for Photoshop and Premiere Pro and was ok with specs but i read many articles saying this model has very low NITS 250 and SRGB, Adobe RGB Values which results in worst colour accuracy i checked with many review, articles, videos. So how do i know the exact value of adobe rgb and srgb values (official information or someother sources) and on other side model which im trying to buy is DK0046TX with 1050 Graphics or DK0047TX with 1650 Graphics I don’t see the major difference between two but would like to know which one will be good. I saw that 1050 is outdated but cost is the problem for me where I’ve to pay 5k extra for 1650 variant. Thanks

Typically the 60 Hz panels have a poor colour gamut (60% sRGB). The 144 Hz ones are usually around 95% sRGB. There are exceptions of course, and if you can get the panel ID you can go on www.panelook.com to get its details

The 9300h meets the min specs for Python so this laptop will be fine. Dont know about Matlab. Another one to consider is the Helios 300, that is very popular.

In the live stream recording I asked why CPU clockspeed was only at 3.3 Ghz. Both you and Bob told me that it's because of Single channel RAM, but at 7:53 with dual channel I see exactly the same story, so it's not because of RAM. Did you limit the closkspeed yourself or it's power limit throttling from HP?

It depends what game it is running. I didn't do Rainbow Six Siege in the live stream. The average CPU clock was slightly higher in dual channel, but certainly the GPU % is usually much better.

I saw that that the GF63 is now $669 , that is pretty cheap. Hard to beat that price. People say that Battery life is about 5 hours. One person said that it throttles to 25 TDP so probably lower clocks than the Pavilion. I havent tried it in person though.

I think the i7 will definitely be better suited for you. They have improved the cooling on this over last generation but still have to rely on their own fan curve and I dont know how hot the i7 will get versus the i5. I do have the Omen 15 with the i9 and with that they updated their software to limit the CPU power to 45w and it runs fairly cool out the box. So I would be tempted for you to get the Omen 15 over this, they have updated its design and it looks much better than last year. Of course, you can undervolt too so that will help if you stay with the Pavilion. Other options include perhaps the Helios 300 but that still gets a bit warm. I like what HP did with the Omen for the average user.

Would appreciate if you think that’s a good move. It seems like one of the best gaming laptops for around that figure.....? I’m only really looking to play RTS games.

The 1660Ti uses upto 84w whilst the 1650 uses up to 53w. That's quite a bit more cooling required. Unlike the new Omen 15 I don't think they have given us a max fan option, perhaps they have. I do expect it to run hotter , but they do manage the power to the CPU well so perhaps it may just require an undervolt.

Its not the best design, but if you don't go grabbing the corners to open and close it I am sure it will be fine.

I would get the this HP Pavillion. The 9300h is much better than even the 3750h. I reviewed the TUF FX505 and that CPU was quite a bit slower.

I measured 5 hours 30 mins at 25% brightness streaming You Tube. I now have the Ryzen 5 4600H / GTX 1650 to test so stay tuned for that.

Hi steven, just wondering did you attempt any repaste of this system? I just got 9570h and 1650 config, temps out of the box is pretty good, not sure the stock paste is sustainable on long run, however when attempting to repaste i did stripped one of screw head which made me unable to open the heatsink to repaste. Once i checked on forum the stripped screw case is pretty common on hp notebook, i guess they must have use lower quality screw to save cost. Guess im stuck with stock paste for the meantime 😭

That sucks ! I repasted the previous gen with no issues, perhaps I got lucky. Ive stripped heads on screws around the base, pretty frustrating. Do you have a set of precision screw drivers? Sometimes I find one that still fits. Good luck !

@@BlueJon1975 I actually never got it in the end....UK Amazon were struggling to get it back in stock so I got an Asus A15 with similar specs. If you're reasonable with your expectations (I mostly play older games on high settings and recent games on medium), I haven't been let down yet. The screen is ok, but not a travesty like people make out (if you mostly game at night its fine, but direct sunlight is not it's friend). Overheating is just simply not an issue for me either (and I play on my lap, no cooling pad, for about 2 hours each session).

Hey there, you just going the monitoring section and chose what you would like to display. To make it larger you right click on the TV symbol in your system tray , click show and make it larger. Hi Steven. I have a suggestion for how you should input your more info in your videos. For example, when you mentioned that the WiFi card gave you 'good download speed', I'd very much prefer that you could specifically show us the detail of the download speed. Also, you vaguely mentioned how it 'runs cooler' than last year's model. Show some more visual data, comparison etc. To put it simply, be more detailed. Have a good day :)

Hi Victor - thanks for the feedback, I did show the download speed at the same time I mentioned it - look again...I showed the temperature of the previous gen at the start. It was was running at 96 degrees. At that moment I mentioned that it ran hot, I also put a card at the start pointing to the 2018 model.

Great, glad my video helped you ! I prefer using Throttlestop which you can download from Techpowerup. Once downloaded, extract it and I drag the application to my task bar for ease of opening. I always change Speedshift EPP to 1 and disable BD Prochot. Then on the FIVER adjust the voltage offset on the core and cache - say start with -125mv - then on the TPL tab, increase turbo time limit to say 96 or higher. Turn the profile on, test to make sure its stable, save voltages and save profile.
