I'm Zimbabwean and we make something similar to this but what my mom would do is add the smallest amout of salt and cayenne pepper to the broth and we keep the meat on the bone and eat it all! lol we also eat it with sadza which is corn mill cooked until a thick almost doughy mashed potato consisteny and we dip it in the ox broth. yummy!

Wow maangchi this soup looks so nutritious and tasty! I'm so tempted to make this. I've had it in restaurant before but it wasn't as "jelly" as yours which means it didn't have enough collagen. Going to share your recipe with mom..... PS LOL when the steam came out of your mouth. So funny.

When you were cutting and starting to prep your cabbage, all I could think of is...WHERES MY PEANUT BUTTER?" I'm an avid cabbage eater. I eat the raw leaves with peanut butter spread on. So yummy! My Mama and I would make a meal of cabbage and potatoes with vinegar on it.🤤🤤 She would have loved your channel. She is where I get the adventurous side. We would have made a huge pan of thos and enjoyed it until it was gone. Blessings to you Maanchi🙏🏻

Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe! I have never seen this soup on the menu in my local Korean restaurants so I was excited to find frozen cow feet when I was shopping yesterday! I spent all day on the kitchen today and made this soup and also the cucumber salad! I love it! I live in Hawaii on the island of Maui and am lucky to have a Korean store that makes their own soybean paste and saeujeot, and they carry all the other ingredients I need to make all your wonderful dishes. You're the best, Maangchi! I have leftover soup, we will eat it tomorrow!

Seeing this gives me happy memories of my grandmother. Her ox bone soup was very different and yet similar because while the seasoning was different it was made with ox bones and cabbage so it had a similar look when finished. I find the story of ox bones being expensive in Korea interesting, because as Maangchi said its cheap in the US so my grandmother knew the recipe because it was a good way to feed large family with minimum cost. Despite this I'm not fond of ox bone soup (one of the few things my grandma made that i didn't like), but It still reminds me of being in the kitchen with my grandmother. =3

I will repeat this part because it's important : The hardest thing for us at first was finding gochujang (red chili paste) and doenjang (soybean paste) that was halal,” Yu said with a small bowl of bright red paste. “Most brands use alcohol to speed fermentation, so we had to go out and find pastes that were naturally fermented. This gochujang is light and sweet, flavored with pears.”

Thank you for showing how to make this wonderful soup. I had a room mate that was Korean. She made everything the day before we took each of our mid-teens and finals. She would do a huge pot of broth then store in the refrigerator. Then make a fresh soup everyday fir us. Really helped us get through those tests. Took off the test hang overs. 😂😂😂😂 You are one awesome lady. Thank you fir sharing your dishes and how to make them. Brings back so many college days with the same room mate those 4 years.

I was incredibly hung over yesterday after a fun night out, and I decided that I absolutely had to make your ox bone hangover soup. I admit my planning was a little poor because I just finished making it now (quite a while after my hangover ended), but it still tastes amazing. Thanks for the recipe Maangchi!
