Thank you for sharing your tips! One problem I encountered with my Oxebar keg tapping head is with the silicone elbow. The white plastic dip tube has sharp edges so during the installation or when the elbow moves around you can end up puncturing it. Had CO2 pressing into the beer line from the puncture and making the pour foam. Good idea to keep spares of them around!

Interesting, this isnt something that has seen any cases that I am aware of. You would have to push very hard I should imagine but its a good thing to be aware of. Thanks for reporting on this 🍻🍻🍻

Thanks for pointing out! I have only foam pouring, turning into flat beer, with my beer line half full of gas. Turns out the silicon elbow is fractured and its only visible when the dip tube or liquid post is inserted in it. No idea how to get a replacement shipped to Europe. I have tried fixing it with tape, it slightly improved... :(

@yoann5934 You should be able to get a replacement from where you bought it 🍻😎🍻

Thanks David. Of course I could just be wrong, but one thing that was a little problematic is the dip tube insertion. You have to connect it to the silicon elbow, then screw in the cap on the lid. I didn't have a perfectly straight straight line, which I think when screwing the cap resulted in a rotation/tension on the insertion point. End result, it cap out a couple of times. I just shortened the line a little and works fine as a I think this reduced the overall tension. Overall a great product as an introduction to kegs with small batches.

Hey Sam, yes the line length is important to get right for this reason. Straightening the line helps greatly too. 🍻🍻🍻

Thanks for another great video David. I'm thinking of getting one or two of these in the near future.

Thank you, I have videos that cover the 4L and 8L kegs and I will also be covering the 20L soon enough too 🍻🍻🍻

Im glad you were wearing pants when you filmed this, you gotta be careful of reflections! Haha

Really good video as per David! Would you then fill with sanitiser and pull through the liquid post just before filling to keep fully enclosed? So similar to a kegging process of ensuring sanitised?

Thanks Craig. Yes, that is how I do it 🍻🍻🍻

What are the parts I will need to attach a tap? My local home brew shop hasn't been much help with questions.
@DavidHeathHomebrewАй бұрын
It will really depend on the sort of tap but as a minimum you will need a ball lock, beer line and a way of attaching the tap. These are all basics for home brew stores.

What's the C02 dispenser shown on the right in this video? It wasn't mentioned in your 4L Oxebar Keg video but it looks intriguing!

Thats actually an old cheap model that ive had for years. Its was spare at the time of making the video.

@@DavidHeathHomebrew I've been looking for a cheap regulator / disposable c02 option to give to friends or family so I'd love to know what's available.

@sTiKyt Its hard to recommend the cheap options in all honesty. Hit and miss on how long they last.

I’ve tried all types of ways to tighten the caps and prv (starting with your “hand tight”) on these but have found no way to ensure there are no leaks. Even reached out to Kegland which had no real useful advice. Quite frustrated with the whole thing and regret not having gone with trad kegs instead 😢
@DavidHeathHomebrew6 ай бұрын
Have you tried a replacement prv?
@Ctharth1236 ай бұрын
I have had same issue, changed to other prvs same result. Put a couple on it and then and its not leaking, but then there is no prv. (a total of 3 prv couples together with 5 prv tried), now i use my oxebar only for lagering.

@jesperdahlhansen8332 You should reach out to where you bought it, they have a duty to fix it if you cannot resolve it.

I’ve tried a replacement prv but leaks are from threads on tapping head (to keg)…
@DavidHeathHomebrew6 ай бұрын
I would seek a replacement then. Clearly something is a miss there.

Can an Oxebar be (partially) filled with beer and stored wthout a Tapping Head Kit?
@DavidHeathHomebrew6 ай бұрын
Yes but be sure to fill it all the way up to protect against oxygen. It is better to use the tapping head as you can then co2 purge.

Could you not put a small amount of gas in keg then place the top in a bucket of water and check for leaks?
@robertfeldt52366 ай бұрын
Sure, I’ve done so. Most of my five 8l kegs leak from the main tapping head threads.
@DavidHeathHomebrew6 ай бұрын
Yes, leak detection is nothing different with these. You can also spray with soapy water and watch for bubbles. This is the regular way.
