I worked for a company from 2008-2014 I showed up on time every day, I never called out, I busted my ass every day and always did what I was told. The boss called everyone into the office right before lunch on a Friday and said everyone is terminated they sold the company, no severance pay, no thank you for you dedication and hard work. Just flat out see ya later. It took about a month to finally get my first check from unemployment and unemployment was only like $300 a week back then, wasn’t even enough to pay rent. If you have money saved I would consider saving it unless you are planning to buy a vehicle to live in. I would probably start getting a resume out there if I were you. I’m not trying to tell you what to do I’m simply trying to give you some advice. Not saying don’t chase your dreams but always make sure you have some type of backup plan as a safety net. Good luck to you dude

Nice setup for 1 person! You could install some struts on the bed top so you don't have to hold it up to gain access to the huge storage area below.
@OXFOOT
@OXFOOT 9 ай бұрын
The struts are something on my radar. I’m still debating just starting from scratch and going with drawers. I really just prefer at least 1 drawer when camping. If you pull them out you get a little more prep surface when cooking. That being said until then, struts may be the way.

What I was planning with my Tacoma ACLB as an inexpensive solution to wedge campers/Project M. Yes the BedRug will help with insulation and covering the tailgate gap. You still might need to keep the gasket seal.
@OXFOOT

I do love the project M though. If I do go camper in the future it would be between that and the radica moonlander. The bed sealing for sure helped, hoping to get a bed rug at some point. May have to re-cut my bed set up to fit the bed once I add that though. Oh well.

Make a slide out drawer for under bed instead of the hinged door. Think like a sailor using webbing in the ceiling can hold bedding and utensils.

So it’s weird I’m a side sleeper but I mostly sleep on my back when I camp. That’s mostly because years ago I was a hammock camper and a ground tent camper before that. This matteress is the only one I’ve ever side slept on and I’m finding it surprisingly comfortable. I will say heat has a nice 100 night or something like that return policy if you don’t love it so I have no problems recommending it because I think it’s the best. It probably won’t close in a thin tent but it’s easily able to be rolled up and stored in your car.

Sweet build. If you dont mind, what did you pay for the ranch topper? I had an 02 and 2011 Tundra with A.R.E. topper. I agree with you about the bed being cold. My current 2020 Tundra has spray in bed liner. The previous two had the plastic liner. I prefer the plastic liner. Because you won't have to caulk to keep cold air out. And it protects against things getting stuck in between like leaves, wood chips, or anything you're loading in the bed. It's also easier to pull things out.

I think it's better to buy an SUV if you're going to close off the bed. SUV is much better because you can just fold the rear seats, and put the mattress. Less problems. And you can stay warm.
@OXFOOT
@OXFOOT 6 ай бұрын
I used to have an SUV and imo it’s no comparison. The back of an SUV isn’t going to be flat so you’ll have to build a platform that will take up the entire back seat. Then you have to take all of your storage out at night when you sleep. Maybe some people make it work but I was way too tall in my 4Runner and that’s a fairly long vehicle. I found sleeping in the back of both my 4Runner and Forester to be very uncomfortable and cumbersome. Did a cross country trip in my forested back in the day and got tired of sleeping on the seat bump. The truck is perfect for sleeping inside. It’s doable but nowhere near as comfortable.

@@OXFOOTI wanted to buy a truck and build a similar setup, but stealth is a important to me, since be stealth enough to park in the city offers lots of flexibility.
