Something very rotten in the Oxford Union. I thought this only happened in the old Soviet Union. Times change.

This debate actually causes nostalgia for Soviet Union. It’s hard to imagine that such ugly, violent and evil event could happen under the watch of authorities in USSR. I remember the meeting dedicated to my firing from job as an enemy of state and in comparison with this debate it looks like it was a pleasant party.

@@alexandervanlohen4229 why are the native populations of Europe not doing anything about this? Your government opened the floodgates for Syrian refugees. I don’t understand why Europeans are just accepting this. European nationalism is very powerful. Your country has scared your population of right leaning politics. In our last major elections in America Trump won the presidency by a landslide. The house and the senate are controlled by the Republican Party now. America didn’t like the direction the country was going. The Democratic party has been catering to far left fringe groups for far too long and lost the working and middle class vote. You are just going to give up your country?

Some years ago, I and someone random were in a bar discussing genetics. I think it had something to do with cancer research, how genetics plays a part in new possible medications for cancers. Three teachers came along, and they told us we are not allowed to discuss genetics. They then started being extremely obnoxious and gaslighting, and I was just shocked. I asked them as many questions as I could, and they had absolutely zero interest in reasoning or logic, or being correct. They cared about having control over everyone, and, that there were three of them and one of me, and that was the most important thing. I have since then been talking to as many teachers as possible. As an example, two teachers I know, or studying teachers, who were really amazing people, decided not to carry on following their dream of being a teacher, because they felt that they the atmosphere was extremely unhealthy for them. All the other teachers I have spoken to have been absolutely disgusting. When I started seeing videos of what education has now become, it is exactly these vile people who have began working in these schools. We really need to do something about this. Education is the most important thing for humanity, right up there with healthcare and having food.

Can we have an Oxford debate on whether or not they still hold to their "principles/ideals", and include ex Oxford people who are still able to debate. It would be interesting to hear the opinions of mature, sensible people and see what they think about this load of weighted nonsense. I never got past 3rd year in Grammar school, down the pits at 15 and 22 yrs in the RAF...not particularly clever, but a reasonable amount of wisdom I like to think. Because of the time I now have available I have been studying Judaeo/Christian history and relationships for almost 2 years. I have been blessed with what I've learnt, I've also been able to make up my own mind on this latest conflict. Throughout history I believe that Israel have been disobedient to God ( many times ), however, the Bible teaches that they are chosen for a specific task and that is to be a light unto the World...and when I say chosen, I do not mean preferred, but chosen to do a job! The war I believe is a religious one from Hamas point, I don't believe it is just about land ( that will never be agreed on ), but a religious fanatacism to destroy Israel and the Jews. There are approx 16 million Jewsish folk in the World, half of them live in USA, about 40 odd percent in Israel, now that ain't a lot of people, and when you consider the number of people trying to kill them off, and I will include non muslim protestors amongst that figure, then they are outnumbered heavily! If you knew your Bible I think you may agree that this is against the GOD of Israel, not just the Jewish people, it is Satanic at heart but there will be only one winner.

Sacerdoti and Hausdorff were excellent, despite the appalling disruption from the audience. I don't think Yousef and Haddad did well making their points. Yousef let himself lash out at the crowd, which is understandable but not productive, and Haddad's speech just didn't have enough structure to carry his point (that Israel is very visibly not an apartheid state) well. And if even half of what Sacerdoti says here is correct, it's a grossly mis-managed debate by the Union. On the other hand, though El-Kurd and Abulhawa were well spoken but largely failed to address the motion at all - the tragedy of the lives lost is very real, but says nothing about the allegation of genocide OR apartheid. Mowafy's speech was good, but Hausdorff tore up one of his quotes, throwing the rest into doubt. I haven't done the homework to know whether all the rest were equal junk, but it lowers Mowafy's effect some. As for Peled, well, I'll consider that sub-judice, which is enough to say about that.

I think he meant that they only invited pro-Hamas members (presumably there are way more Union members in total than could fit in that little room). Unless you think 75% to 90% of ALL Oxford Union members would have refused to try and prevent the Oct 7 attacks if they knew about them ahead of time? That speaks even worse for that organization.

@ Respectfully, I suspect that many young people, particularly university students, are supportive of Palestinian human rights, largely because of the widespread access to social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. These platforms have made it possible for people to see the devastating impact of the conflict, which includes witnessing the murder of children and babies on a daily basis, for 12 months. Once you witness it, you can’t unsee it. This has made it the first potential genocide that many have witnessed live. Additionally, there are many Jews who also support Palestinian rights. So it seems that the audience members are less about being "cherry-picked" and more about reflecting the perspective of a generation that has seen these events unfold in real time. In contrast, mainstream media narratives don’t capture the full extent of what has been witnessed on social media.

Also, you are asking Oxford university to invite and be comfortable with hosting a Mossad agent to speak in a student debate. Did you not think of student safety and security? I think many people would be extremely uncomfortable having a known Mossad agent debating in a room full of students. Please, come back to reality.

How does this disgusting dribble from this channel even get posted. If they bothered to bring someone onto the show who doesn’t support death of Palestinian or Lebanese civilians they’d have been embarrassed so they just choose to take a side which the majority of the world are disagree with. Shambles!

Civilians would imply they are civil to begin with. I'm sorry but a "civilian" doesn't drag a body through a crowd whilst said crowd punches, kicks, spits on, and worse. "civil" like holding onto that body? Sounds like a "civilian" crowd to me🤔 "civil" like what they did at nova and kibbutz? Oh right, yes. Civil. And you wanna talk about dribble. I guess you should know it when you see it

@ or civil as in literally blocking aid from getting to woman, children and fathers, maybe I have humanity and you’re so focused on having an enemy that you don’t care if civilians aren’t actually involved in the war. The hypocrisy when literally soo called civilians aren’t literally stealing houses, setting fires to cars and killing CIVILIANS in the West Bank.

Best course of action would be if e All reputable corporates(law firms , investment banks and consultancy firms ) don’t recruit or hire people who graduated from oxbridge between 2022 and 2024 , instead look at other universities. That would immediately starve the universities of funds and make them rethink on their twisted policies .
