I also got my new knee about three weeks ago, my second one. The other knee was done almost 2 years ago and is doing well. I am grateful for your implant… I have a severe nickel allergy and your implant was the answer. Thank you for this amazing product!

And what if revision is needed ? I'm guessing the tibial compartment is less shear resistant than the femoral condyle and patellofemoral surfaces, and it wears out quicker. is it possible then to only replace the polyethylene surface ?

Hi, thanks for your question! For sure you can replace only the polyethylene. We already have excellent long term results. So polyethylene replacements are very seldom.

Hello . I had a smith and nephew oxinium hip replacement in 2013 at age 38. My dr called it a young adult hip. I am still going strong at age 48 but need another replacement on my other hip. I am really dreading it . Can I request the same hip as I have now? Or has technology changed and has gotten better? Please let me know. Thanks

Hi Eric, We are pleased to hear that you are happy with your hip replacement. We recommend a consultation with your doctor for another hip replacement and wish you all the best for the future. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to make any treatment recommendations.

Does oxinium implants n ceramic implants are different??
@SmithNephewDACH2 жыл бұрын
Hello @Trupti Mane, Thank you for your question. Yes, they are indeed different. An OXINIUM implant is composed of award-winning oxidized zirconium (OxZr) alloy. The original metal surface is transformed through heating in air at over 500° C to create a 5um thick ceramicised oxide. For further information please go to: www.oxinium.com/
