Old school tip: after draining your fluid, put the car in drive & reverse by holding the brake so the trans converter can spin out the rest of the fluid. You may have to do a few times. 😉

You can also use dex6 fluid. It's backwards compatible with dex3. GM recommends making this change as the aforementioned is a far superior transmission fluid. It doesn't start breaking down until 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, which it will obviously never see.

Gm recommends upgrading to Dexron vi for all automatic cars filled with Dexron iii factory filled cars. I dod on my 1996 4t80e and 2002 4t65e. As the specifications say, it will extend the life of clutch plates by 50%, and the car will have considerably smoother shift points - which it does.

Great video, and nice job stressing not to drain a trans till you know you can refill it. FYI, For tight spaces like that fill plug, keep in mind the shortest weapon to attack it with is gonna be that torx insert in a box end wrench. Then stick another box end over the open end for a little added leverage.

Hey man i kind of have the same problem as flyshitonly773, i have a 2006 Cadillac STS 3.6 AWD, i just changed the spark plugs because when i pressed on the gas the check engine light flashed and it felt like a lack/delay in power. Well changing the plugs got rid of that problem but now at stop lights my car slightly jerks a little every now and then. I read in some forums that it could be old transmission fluid, do you think changing the trans oil would fix this problem?

If you're at the recommended mileage for a transmission change, it can't hurt. I have a similar thing happen to me so at every fill up I just put in one of those gas treatments and all the shaking goes away. Ive checked both the driver and passengers side. Could this be a design change ? appreciate your input.
@oxmanagain7 жыл бұрын
I think you're right on the design change. Your model is a V6 and I have a V8. Just find the drain plug and look in the general vicinity and you should see it. Just make sure to not open the drain plug until you find that elusive fill plug.

You know I would hate to give you the wrong information. The fill plug is so vital that you know where it is and that you can get to it. I believe that they did make a change for your year so without me actually looking at it I'm sorry but I can't tell you where it is. Whatever you do do not drain your transmission fluid out until you are a hundred percent sure you know where the fill plug is and you are confident that you can get to it.

I believe you have a different transmission (the 5l50) . There is a plastic fill plug you can pull with needle nose piles. Make sure the car is level, do a fill, start and row through the gears. When you check the level, you should do it with the car on and the transmission at 30 to 50 C. It will get to operating temp really quickly and the fluid will start coming out of the service port (on the side).

Did you make your car level and did you also start it and go through the gears to make the transmission fluid get sucked into the transmission?
@chicagowackervideos60236 жыл бұрын
oxmanagain yes car is level and only one quart wants to stay in
@chicagowackervideos60236 жыл бұрын

What if I'd it goes in gear at first then it goes in gear and not move
@oxmanagain6 жыл бұрын
I would stop the car and make sure you have fluid in and that it didn't leak out. Then if the problem is still there, you might want to go the dealer or a shop.
@preciousf55478 жыл бұрын
The owners manual says the transmission needs 9.5 qt, how come you only had to add 4.3 qt.
@oxmanagain8 жыл бұрын
Good question, if you drop the pan and change the filter then you will need 9.5 quarts. I just changed the fluid and not the filter, I have had bad luck in the past every time I changed the filter.

Plus tha torque converter has a shit ton of fluid as well. Which some cars have drains on tha torque converter as well.

What kind of scanner do i have to buy for a body control module
@oxmanagain8 жыл бұрын
From the research I did, your standard OBD II scanner should detect any malfunction in the BCM

John King Yeah it was hard for me to turn it as well until I got a long pipe that gave me more leverage. Then it was easy and I took it off in no time.

You had better make sure that you can take out the fill plug befor you drain the oil !!!!!!!
@davidpedder90486 жыл бұрын
Sorry i made the comment befor you mentioned the same thing !!!!! Best thing to do to make your vehicle level , is get 4 ramps ( if they will fit )
@oxmanagain6 жыл бұрын
Good point.
@bowsdelux6 жыл бұрын
you just make 50 % of the entire job !!! all the old oil still in the torque converter and in the rest of your transmission !!! when you start your car the new oil gonna mix with the old oil .... you need to flush your old oil too before running with your car
@oxmanagain6 жыл бұрын
You are right that's why I made another video where I actually dropped the transmission pan and I changed the filter. To me changing the filter is extremely important, I've had bad experiences with just going to the dealer and having them completely get the transmission fluid out but not change the filter. The most ideal situation would be to change your filter and get a complete transmission fluid flush which would include the torque converter being flushed out as well.
@J0SHUAKANE5 жыл бұрын
@@oxmanagain no, do not ever flush a transmission. It breaks up too much gunk at once & can clog your valve body. Drop the pan & change the fluid & filter 5 times if you have to.
@masterofnothing35656 жыл бұрын
u didn't check to see what the level of the fluid was before you drained it that's a no no and you have to check the fluid level first on a level surface u do this by warming it up putting it in every gear for a few seconds and remove the fill plug if it spills out its at the proper level if not its low and you will never know when its jacked up at the front at a 27 degree angle please don't make videos unless u really know what u are doing
@oxmanagain6 жыл бұрын
If you would have watch the whole video I did exactly what you just said. Don't make useless comments unless you see the whole video.

Hello i have a cadillac 2004 srx and it keeps losing power after an hour of driving. I change mass air flow sensor cleaned throttle body and it keeps doing the samething. My question is could it be the fuel pump that i never change i have 144,000 miles on it? Also sometimes the rpg goes insane but latly it haven't done that. Thanks in advance!
@oxmanagain8 жыл бұрын
Man, I sorry to hear all that. Have you changed the fuel filter or the spark plugs? Plus it might help if you put in one of those fuel additives.

Instead of leveling the car, cant i just tilt the car the other direction from the feed?
@oxmanagain6 жыл бұрын
I know to get a true reading you do want your transmission pan as flat as possible.
