This video was very helpful. I cleaned both today and your instructions made it so easy. I did however move the plate to clean the throttle body. There was lot of gunk around the plate area. I held the plate open to clean the body. It snapped back once you release it. I did take measurements before moving the plate and it was exactly the same when i was done cleaning it.

@oxmanagain4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. As far as the MAF goes you pretty much only have to clean that. The throttle body if it ever goes bad it won't open and then your know that you need to replace it. But cleaning both of them will almost extend their life almost forever.

Can this be done with brake cleaner or does it have to be specific to the maf and throttle body?
@oxmanagain10 ай бұрын
I would only use math cleaner and throttle bottle cleaner. For one reason they both spray and for another reason they are specially formulated to clean and evaporate so that there's no residual chemicals left over to get into the engine.

This is how not to clean the throttle body. You missed the main area, which is the point of contact of flap with body. If you dont clean it, rough idle will not go away. Moving the flap with your hand to do it, doesn't have consequences as it springs back to original position. No going to dealer thing.

@oxmanagain Жыл бұрын
You can always replace it so I would clean it first. It only cost 8 to $10 to clean it and $80- $200 to replace the actual sensor. So if you clean it and it doesn't work then you can always just replace it.

Actually the most important part to clean is the edge of the butterfly where it seals to the bore.Cleaning the plate itself really won't improve anything.With an electric throttle you can't manually open no but you can spray a good amount and let it puddle till it seeps to the other side .

Yeah if you clean your intake valves your throttle body your mass air flow sensor that will make a huge difference when you're going from high speed down to slow speed. It allows the car to breathe so much better due to all the junk that has built up on those surfaces.

I have an LR2 that wouldn't start aside from the electronical stuff (lights, radio, etc.) I then jump started it and got a "low fuel" warning for a split second and right after that got the "reduced engine performance" message. It ran for a few days, but seemed to struggle starting up. Today it won't start and I got the "reduced engine performance" message again. Do you think cleaning the MAF sensor may solve this or have any suggestions for troubleshooting? Really don't want to spend a whole bunch at a shop and others have said that it's hit or miss if they actually correctly diagnose the problem the first time but you still end up paying even if they get it wrong and you have to keep going back.
@oxmanagain6 жыл бұрын
Do you have access to an OBD II code reader? Cleaning your throttle lets in more air so it's all a good idea to keep it clean. You might want to look at getting you injectors cleaned also.
