The problem is the static air that gets trapped inside. To store coffee, the better option is Airspace. The lid compresses down into the container on top of your beans. The Airspace doesn't displace the air completely around the beans but it's better than the lid on the Oxo Pop.

It seems to be called Airscape, not Airspace, but thank you for the pointer - I still got there by Googling for Airspace.
