I grew up eating oxtails. Love them. It blows my mind how much it costs now.

I know! What's up with those prices! That's why I make sure to save the bones for broth, at least then they do double duty!
@margaretterrebonne95962 жыл бұрын
@@KetogenicWoman I just cook them in pressure cooker for the first time. The meat is so good. I will put the bones straight into slow cooker to make bone broth. Do you put all the fat in there too? And I browned some ground beef for soup with the drippings.
@KetogenicWoman2 жыл бұрын
@@margaretterrebonne9596 I let the broth and fat solidify in the fridge and then keep the fat in a separate jar for cooking! You can let some of the fat go in the broth too!

I grew up eating oxtail soup. It has always been a favorite of mine. My children and grands love it now too. Every time I purchase a side of beef from our local organic farm, I am thrilled to see that others dont take theirs and I get extra tails, extra liver and extra suet. WIN WIN The bone broth I get afterwards is always amazing. Perfect gel every time

Love oxtails. It used to be one of the cheapest meats you could buy, now it's outrageously expensive. It also used to come with a lot of fat but now they are trimmed down to the meat the way yours were in this video. I liked them with their natural fat, it was also delicious.

Yes, I agree. I don't even look at them anymore they are so expensive!

I don't know why I got the recommendation for your channel but I'm a very happy camper right now! I love oxtail! I worked with an African lady who introduced me to it 15 years ago and I was hooked! I get mine from the butcher's farm and I just happened to have three tails from last week! I now know what to do with it! Thank you!

I bet the African version was nice and spicy! Feel free to spice them up, I am using very minimal spices on my food these days because I'm having issues and trying to pinpoint the foods. Thanks for watching!

@@KetogenicWoman You can say that again about the spicy and delicious! I will spice it up for sure! Btw I follow another keto KZbinr who uses better than bouillon and it's been a life changer the way the foods taste! I started keto three years ago to fit into a bikini for vacation and I haven't turned back because of the way it makes me feel! You were spot on with the pronunciation of the word worcestershire lol!

I've just added oxtails to my shopping list. My mom used to make oxtail soup for me as a child growing up and I've always loved them. They are so flavourful. Don't know why it's taken me so long to find you, but better late than never LOL. I have joined your Facebook group as well. Looking forward to all you have to offer. As an aside, I made the keto carnivore pasta and wow, it's so quick and easy to put together. Thank you so much for everything you do! Are you in Canada? I noticed a You Tube vid for Costco Canada and just wondered. I'm in North Vancouver, BC.

Yum! Oxtails and chicken wings...mostly fat and bone and cartilage, so you'd think they'd be cheap, right? Hmpf. I do the same with my oxtail remains, toss them in my bone broth with a couple of chicken feet and you're guaranteed the jigglys. LOL

I have the instant pot pro and it doesn't have a stew option and it doesn't have a "normal" heat just high or low so I put it on "soup" which was set for 30 but I turned it to 45 like you and it asked for high or low so I went high

Am i able to add any thyme or rosemary? Just starting the diet soon and i am researching heavy
@KetogenicWoman Жыл бұрын
That would be your decision and depend on your goals. The dogmatic carnivores will say spices are a plant and there not carnivore. Correct. But my goal is not about being a perfect carnivore, it's about health and if I can tolerate rosemary I will eat it! So if seasonings help you do that and don't trigger any auto immunes for you then go for it.

Thank you so much Anita Your presence is so lovely. I made Tallow yesterday and frankly the smell put me off. I used grass fed suet from the local butcher. I was gaimier than I had expected as this was my first time. Is this normal? I'm a huge fan of lard and ghee, but I'm not sure about this lol
@KetogenicWoman3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if it's because it is grass fed? My tallow has no smell. I once spent a lot of money buying some grass fed steaks and I didn't like the flavor or the smell, now I just eat Costco meat or from my local organic butcher.
@juvantejohnson2 жыл бұрын
Yes most definitely, Guga has a video about this. If you want tasty meat you can use Grass raised Grain finished meat. Is this healthy???? I'm not too sure but it does remove the gamey nature of the Grass raised and finished beef.
