TIG welding on stainless steel pipe for oxygen enrichment line with maximum "2 mm" root procedure! The most demanding TIG welding root technique!
TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding process offers numerous advantages: Compact, full penetration, and a clean process.
An important point of this procedure is that the weld seam is very high in quality, for two reasons: the purity of the weld as well as the surface finish.
This becomes critical when a specific welding project demands such results for applications in industries such as oxygen enrichment lines in refineries.

Thank you so much! Your every video gets better and better. Great and clear arc shots and narration. By the way, how stressful is to weld such a pipe where every mistake is a cut out? For example if there's a tiny cold wire you would just go over that place with increased amperage or this is not allowed? Are you constantly being watched by QS guys while welding?
@X3MTIG
@X3MTIG 2 жыл бұрын
Hey DM thanks for your comment brother. It is stressful, but that’s the part of our profession. If there is any cold wire in the root, you can just feather out that section and go over with higher or the same amperage, as long as you don’t open your root with grinder should be good. Yes it is closure weld procedure and QC has to be present until root and hot pass is done.

Very interesting video! Slick job sir! I was always wandering what's going on in these tents, but now i know. I'm also working in the industry, but not as a welder, though i kind of a want to. It's more like a hobby and passion to me. I want to ask you 2 questions: 1st is, as you are in a kind of a confined space and working with inert gasses, do you use external breathing air line for your helmet or any kind of a life support system? 2nd is, Are you working in the Netherlands? Thanks again for the great video, very educational! God bless you!
@X3MTIG
@X3MTIG 2 жыл бұрын
Hey bud thanks for your comment. Yes, any work in closed area,, and working with inert gases is considered as confined space. There is special procedure set in place for that, constant air monitoring performed by man watch, and I don’t use any air supply apparatus. The Only inert gas that is present in that tent is one coming out of my tig torch, so nothing to be worried about. To answer your last question, no, I’ve never worked in Netherland.
@6pekXX
@6pekXX 2 жыл бұрын
@@X3MTIG Thanks for your answer! I thought inert gas is coming from the back purge as well and it was a big pipe.
@X3MTIG
@X3MTIG 2 жыл бұрын
@@6pekXX correct, the spool is filled with inert gas, but on one end is where you purge, and on the other end is your vent holes, and you weld in the middle, so not much in the tent where you perform your work or just minimum .

You were probably running too cold I guess!
@joons3374
@joons3374 Жыл бұрын
@@X3MTIG shit I finally figured it out, the cold laps were the restarts.... never terminate your puddle quickly and remove the rod before you do, always move a bit behind of the solidified puddle when you restart, give that puddle some time before you move, always move ahead of the fusion when you fuse the welds... It explains basically why my roots came out perfect- with the root connecting them and restarting them is very visually obvious thing- metal is melting, time to add the rod.

Regarding the color on the purged side, how much color is allowed?? Welding food grade pipes not even a slight yellow is allowed, I’d imagine any oxygen pipe to have higher demands…
@X3MTIG
@X3MTIG 2 жыл бұрын
Hey bud thanks for your comment. There is no specific instructions on the root colour, I like it nice, clean and shiny. Any discolouration that might occur is from the heat input on your filler passes and cap. The main thing with oxygen line no any debris or grease inside the pipe, thats the biggest issue and max allowance for root protrusion, which was in my case 2 millimeters. Root colour makes more sense for food grade piping like you said , as it’s a food processing.
