The configuration you showed for planting wheezeworts in the early game for radiation harvesting is also great (with a little modification) as an early base-cooling method. Snake some radiant pipes through there, enclose the wheezeworts in hydrogen (with access to the farm tiles from the bottom) and shoot the radbolt through a water lock. Hook that up to some pipes throughout the base and it'll keep up with early game cooling needs.

Something I think worth mentioning is that the large glacier and frozen core traits both will spawn more wheezeworts than normal (although frozen core will take more work to get to, and the large glacier spawns them as their seeds), and they will spawn them even on asteroids that don't generate the frozen biome like oasis. Interestingly the frozen core wheezeworts can survive FAR below their -60 degree temperature.

What cooling are you using on early cycle?, because my base turn yellow after 30 cycle

if heat is spreading through your base early game then isolate heat sources use insulated tile or mechanical airlocks to stop too much hot air from getting in in early game all you really have for “cooling” is wheezeworts but really if the places your dupes are staying in are comfortable then you’re fine your base can be yellow, it’s just that stuff that needs to be green needs to stay green I.e if your glowing bristle blossoms and your base is 30C then isolate the blossoms from the main area.

I use 2 weezwort one on each side of a thermoregulator, it keeps the regulator cool and the regulator keeps food deep frozen, and i also do the same technique on sleetweet farm. I do use these for rad research as well. Also cooling plants in a stable works nicely as well, especially drecko they get hot. You can use these in a locked room if you got conveyor loaders, auto sweepers etc.

I did cover transit tubes as part of the Exploring & Mobility Tutorial Bite, but mainly I would say to have the most commonly travelled areas covered with tubes and access points - particularly up and down and across. In terms of power, using a heavi-watt power spine makes connecting the access points much easier too.

Potentially, but almost all of the current mutations affect the growth cycle. They would have to be modified, or new ones added to really work properly with non harvested plants.

Hello Fungus. The wheezewort/steam turbine trick look neat. I might try that on my current playthrough. Also any opinion on managing steam? Not when using it for steam turbine but for when the steam got loose and running rampant across the map. I had one such disaster on my last playthrough and it covered almost 1/4 of the map with steam and scalded my all my dupes. It was...fun trying to resolve it and I would be interested in your take on such situations.

Well it definitely sounds like you have a huge heating issue, so the only issue is a large amount of cooling. By far the most effective way to do cooling is with the Thermo Aquetuner and Steam Turbine set-up, so I would get that running as soon as possible and send the coolant through the steam areas to make water. Are the numbers with the aquatuner/thermo regulators calculated with a steam turbine in mind? You need the steam turbine to delete the heat, otherwise you're just moving heat from one place to the other right? How many wheezeworts do those setups equal to?

Yes, you are technically correct. My assumption was that you would have a steam turbine paired with either the aquetuner or regulator. One steam turbine will keep up with one aquetuner or regulator, and that is what my numbers refer to for comparison.

That would be wheezeworts in a metal tank full of hydrogen, in a room with CO2. I am just wondering if I should use natural or planted wheezeworts. I got phosphorite enough.

Good point, I suppose that is implied by their liveable temperature range but good to say clearly. Domestic plants will work quicker for making liquid CO2, so I'd probably go with that.

Good question, and yes it is exactly the same so you can use wild ones just as well.

shoud be the same protection and material doesn't really matter. keep in mind that using jet suits extensively will slow down your game (pathfinding issues). that's why most people avoid them.

Yes they work in the same way except they also let dupes fly (which can cause huge FPS drops so beware). It doesn't matter what material a suit is made from, they all work the same.

Thank you all for the replies. We have found that it is extra 20 insulation thickness in both cases, and this is the only thing that changes in dupe's stats. No matter of what material suit or jet was used. ❤
