Now this is some great history. My mother is from Haiti and her lineage goes back to Benin/Togo at 35% and Cameroon/Congo at 51%. Now I see why Haiti was able to overthrow the French being that our people were very resistant to being controlled since Africa under the Oyo Empire. Interesting indeed. Great video!

Fearless Maluba nah. Most likely her descendants were From Dahomey(which counts in a way since they were tributaries to the Oyo empire) and Bambara. Makes sense since most Haitians come from those two places.

Patreon link has changed to patreon.com/ronuspirit The origin stories Dr Catel choses to share in these videos are LEGENDS (or in some cases pure MYTH) and it's therefore possible that they contain falsehoods or are untrue. This is because there are no written records of the true origins. Various different origin stories were transmitted orally by different peoples and Dr Catel is simply choosing to share the ones that he finds most interesting. Also bibliography and sources can be found in the description

You are not entirely wrong probably you don't want to delve deeply. Oranmiyan formed Oyo on his way back from his war expedition to Khartoum, Sudan. Where he brought back many slaves and warriors . That was why Oyo was formerly called Oyo- Khartouga. Khartouga was used to refer to the military quarters of people from Khartoum. He was the first Alaafin and he was succeeded by Ajaka when he left for Ife and the Oyos thought he would not return. As for Oduduwa, he was not the founder of Ife. The history of Oduduwa was that of an era/dynasty that snatched power from the Obatala group and this led to the dispersal of some groups from Ife. You are really doing a great job by making it shot and simple.

D only first class yoruba king known to history is d alafin of Oyo who happens to b d second son of oranmiyan while the oba of Benin is d first son of oranmiyan, d ooni is a priest assigned by d alafin of oyo to take care of oduduwa shrine in ife not to sit on oduduwa throne bcos he's not worthy to sit on it as he does not have d blue blood of oduduwa,,oranmiyan happens to b d heir to oduduwa throne while d oba of Benin is d heir to oranmiyan, oduduwa is d heir to ogiso throne in Benin ,,d throne in which d oba of Benin sits on,ogiso had only one son named oduduwa, oduduwa had 7 children out of which d first two are girls and oranmiyan is his third child and first son making him his heir according to tradition,,oranmiyan first gave birth to eweka in Benin before he went to Oyo ,therefore eweka is d first son of oranmiyan before oranmiyan gave birth to d second alafin of Oyo who is his second son,,,d Yorubas sees oduduwa as a God but the Edo's know he is not a God but the son of ogiso,,after oranmiyan left Benin he couldn't stay in ife bcos his father (oduduwa) was still alive nd he can not leave in the same palace with another king after sitting on d ogiso throne in Benin, so he left for Oyo and bcam d first alafin of Oyo,,upon d death of oduduwa he (oranmiyan)was called back to became d king but he declined on d ground dat he was already a king in Oyo and so he asked d slave priest(ooni) to take care of d shrine in ife,,upon d death of oranmiyan his second son was crowned d second alafin of Oyo and he also declined going back to ife on d ground dat d ife throne does not belong to him but belong to his fathers first son (Oba of Benin) who was already sitting on a more ancient throne in a more developed city (benin ),,and so d ooni lineage continued as keeper of d shrine but never sits on d oduduwa throne,,,,,,from dis little explanation I have to say d Oba of Benin is more higher and mightier dan any Yoruba king,,

@@olayordeyraphibian384 Its English, let me make it simple. A bini prince saved the people of ife from oppression of obatala.
@olayordeyraphibian3844 жыл бұрын
Well no history has made us know that ,your lost son came to Ife ok, and if be ,I wonder why odudua didn't conquer Ife for Bini ,instead his son now wanted to conquer Bini for Ife , try and think over this ..
@ogasontop4 жыл бұрын
@@olayordeyraphibian384 so where did he come from the sky. As a logical person does that make sense to you. I believe personally that binis and yorubas are the same people divided by monarch we can't stay this long beside each other without heavily being related. So if his a bini prince or he came from the sky it doesn't matter
@ogasontop4 жыл бұрын
@Naija guy there is a truth and its most likely what it logical, like migration, exile, fear for loss of life, and more not coming from the sky thats illogical hence a myth. Its a sign that such people are trying to cover a shame. Could have been he conquered Ife, defeated obatala, gave them their first monarch and more. Because it wasnt easy to rise to kingship those days without a divine right or a special lineage.

Shango Yoruba or Babylonian? The priesthood in general was called shangu, which may mean ‘sacrificer,' and there is little doubt that at first, as among other peoples, the Babylonian priest was practically a medicine-man On the basis of comparative studies between the dynastic tradition of the Qyo-Yoruba and ancient Near Eastern history, the present article argues that Yoruba traditions of provenance, claiming immigration from the Near East, are basically correct. According to Qyo-Yoruba tradition, the ancestral Yoruba saw the Assyrian conquests of the Israelite kingdom from the ninth and the eighth centuries B.C. from the perspective of the Israelites. After the fall of Samaria in 722 B.C., they were deported to eastern Syria and adopted the ruling Assyrian kings as their own. The collapse of the Assyrian empire is, however, mainly seen through the eyes of the Babylonian conquerors of Nineveh in 612 B.C. This second shift of perspective reflects the disillusionment of the Israelite and Babylonian deportees from Syria-Palestine towards the Assyrian oppressors. After the defeat of the Egypto-Assyrian forces at Carchemish in Syria in 605 B.C. numerous deportees followed the fleeing Egypto-Assyrian troops to the Nile valley, before continuing their migration to sub-Saharan Africa.

i still wonder why some yorubas who are christians that believed in the creation of the world and the creation of man,, to now also believe that oduduwa fell from sky and created the first people of ife , now you want to tell me that as a yoruba you were created by Obatala? i laff at their Ignorance. Oduduwa, is The exiled Prince Ekaladerhan who had by this time changed his name to Izoduwa (meaning 'I have chosen the path of prosperity') whom the Ife people now called Oduduwa. When his father the Ogiso died, the Ogiso dynasty officially ended. The people and royal kingmakers preferred their late king's son as the next to rule. Oduduwa, could not return due to his advanced age, he now granted Bini Oranmiyan, his grandson, to rule over Bini, and this is the second dynasty of Bini's. and this is the only part of history which the yorubas have settled upon to say the founded the people of Benin, Bcx oduduwa sent his grandson, forgetting this same Oduduwa is a son of Bini or rather they deleted and kept the true origin of Oduduwa a secret and said he fell for sky, so they can claim to be first, good thing is that the history has been re-writing the truth is out for years, but the yorubas have been thought lies and wrong history, and they are still kneckbent on it, if you are yoruba, think well, where you created by God or by Oduduwa who fell from sky with cockkriel and seeding, then now molded the first people of ife with clay for the soil and also created the earth and forest? abeg just think well.. you can study both history for yourselves and tell me which is more truthful.
