Oyster's latest launch may be the smallest in their current range but this new 56footer punches way above her weight as Matthew Sheahan discovered when he went to put her through her paces in the Solent.

Found your channel quite by chance after watching your joint report with Toby from the Düsseldorf Boat Show. I‘ve just watched this report on the Oyster 565. You have simply GOT TO DO more of this quality reporting! I have been watching Toby‘s channel for some time now. A lot of his reporting on yachts is good, a lot of other stuff however seems disjointed, incomplete and the endings are often abrupt with no summery of content. Have subscribed and rang the bell 👍👍👍 Please do a report on the Amel 60 👌

Oyster really are my fav. Med/small sailboat makers.

It's remarkable, for sure. I really like the seascape windows and even how the turbulent water swirls around. But you add up 6 windows per side heeling over and your essentially towing a bucket. I suppose recessed windows are safer.

Helm positions seem rather remote and exposed for blue water passages

Any negatives to the boat or is this just an ad?

I don't suppose this was filmed in the Bristol Channel was it?

As a Southern Californian where it’s sunny 300+ days a year, I Don’t like all that sunlight in the Cabin. If I want sun I’ll go on deck.

The windows bother me. Why wouldn't they shatter during a storm and let water in on a heel? Am I looking for a problem where one doesn't exist?

The way the water catches on those hull windows bothers me.

Sort of makes you wonder what happens when you encounter a 4+ Douglas-scale sea state in this hull for the first time, doesn't it?
@bobbob64724 жыл бұрын
@@ericfleming5522 yep, makes me question the whole design when you see stuff like that.

It's structural glass and is probably stronger than the hull. It's widely used in all manners of vessels, from small sailing yachts to superyachts.
@bobbob64724 жыл бұрын
@@BadYossa it is not the strength that brothers me, it is how it disrupts the water flow along the hull that makes it look like shit. It is like having a Porsche Gt2 with a flag attached to the antenna.

@@bobbob6472 I've seen plenty of vids of Oysters and other yachts with similar glass and they scoot along fine. Take a look at vids from the Oyster Palma regatta, those beauties are pure boat porn. I crewed on late 90's Oyster and it was a joy to sail. We'd practically fight each other to be on the wheel.

Will someone please answer a landlubber's question? The nomenclature is cryptic to the uninitiated. In this case, I suspect that the 56 indicates that represents the vessel's length. Is that correct? The mystery is the 5 at the end. Does that mean that the cost is five million pounds sterling, or something else? Inquiring minds would like to know.

56 .5.....Feet. The .5 indicates the new series numbers to separate them from the .0 earlier series. Purely model numbers. It began when the added the SEASCAPE windows.

The Amel is very nice....but...you are drive a sweet boat from a camper truck helm station. You lose all the thrill and sensation of helming a thoroughbred sailing yacht. My money is on the Oyster. I have a 625 and it is like a Ferrari to handle. The Amel feels like a winabego. Nice boat but I'm paying for the amazing thrill my hual carbon helms. Until you've sailed it you will never know. The whole cockpit area can be canvassed and screen in for cruising weather protection. My boat has a full set of cockpit canvas.
@FighterFred3 жыл бұрын
@@peterlamere5328 Ha, boats are like cars, individual choice. If you've got enough paper to pay for it. For the sailing thrill, the A-class foiling catamaran would be enough for me.
@peterlamere53283 жыл бұрын
@@FighterFred I own six Fontaine Pajots with CYOA...That's what earned the splash for the Oyster. As fun and smooth riding are my catamarans the boat you will be remembered for cruising in and the best for Antigua Race week. Or St Thomas Rolex Regatta or any of the international Regatta weeks around the world. My Oyster is the right boat for entering and racing. I'm really there for the Lobster bake and meeting new retirees like me cruising to the different venues and inviting old friends to fly in. The Amel is a great well built cruising boat, but the Oyster is a much nicer social event cruising class racer. You have to enter if you want to party with the rock stars. Have a good day...p..☺

For god's sake put a bouyancy jacket on when you are walking with your toes over the top of the toe rails! You are setting a very bad example. This is not really a review as there are zero items that have any critically aware comments.
