Just bought one. so people are worried about losing the lovely oyster liquor? when doing the final shuck, do it over a bowl with cheesecloth double lined. Capture the liquid and re-add to the oyster before serving. Clean you oysters well! nothing like getting shards of shell or dirt when it touches you lip. Reserve liquid for cooking if not eating raw. ! Thanks Mr.Muddin! :-)

Just bought one off of Ebay! It's great! I was worried it would loose alot of the juice, it doesn't. No more stitches in my hand! Made in America!

What was the account you purchased from? We are not currently on eBay. You bought a counterfeit
@smeedgar3 жыл бұрын
It may not of been Ebay. It shipped from Delaware and was about $65.00 + $15.00 shipping and handling. Looks exactly like the one in the Video.

You should try the East Hampton Shucking tool, it's the safest and easiest way to open oysters. You dont hold down the oyster down with your hand. It keeps your hand away from the knife. You won't get hurt and it preserves all the oyster liquor.

Looks like a good tool for someone who don't know how to open a oyster

Don't have one of these yet but when I do I'll use it like you but instead of cutting the top abductor muscle after splitting with this device I'm just going to try to keep pushing on the hinge straight up until the top shell flips end-over-end longways thus peeling abductor muscle off shell straight into a bucket . That's how I do it at home . Although sometimes the oyster doesn't separate from the top shell but the bottom which then I have to dig oyster out of discarded shell bucket . Thanks though , I'll pick one of these up soon ! Just curious what oyster knife are you using ; I usually use a flat tip screwdriver due to usually collecting my oysters from the water .

You’re letting all your oyster liquor out man! Cool tool though!
@luckycatdad83694 жыл бұрын
The oyster is still alive and will replace the liquor in about 5-15 seconds as long as you haven't severed the adductor muscle yet so no worries about dumping it.

You could mix some spring water and salt , artificial but you might not be able to tell the difference or one could finish opening oyster up over an strainer and bowl .

No offense i find it unnecessary.. bit slower too. And messy.. its almost always will spill the liquor
@luckycatdad83694 жыл бұрын
He hasn't severed the adductor muscle so doesn't matter is the liquor spills at that point. The oyster will replace it in 5-15 seconds. Once the adductor muscle is severed then you need to be careful not to spill. For many people this tool will absolutely be faster if shucking a lot.

@@luckycatdad8369 I'd like to know were you think that liquor is going to come from
@luckycatdad8369 Жыл бұрын
@@josephbennett728 the oyster expels the liquor after the adductor muscle has been severed. The shells aren't sealed air tight so you can tip them over, shake them or do whatever you want before severing the muscle. The little amount of liquid inside the shell before hand isn't the important part that people are after.
