Work With Nature - How to Grow Food!

We decided to do several videos doing experiments with EM - Effective microorganisms to see if the acidity of EM2 would benefit the growing of Hypsizygus ulmarius - elm oyster mushrooms. This is the first experiment and is focused mostly on the growing or cultivation of the mushrooms at home among tons of other things.

Thanks for sharing great vid. I did you keep the humidity levels high? I thought you had grow oysters in a humidity tent.

Correct, but here in the tropics humidity is naturally very high.

You prepare it by using EM1, water and molasses to make a microbial anaerobic solution Called EM2. EM stands for effective microorganisms.

To make spown oyster with EM and rice grane... how much time to soaking the very dry rice grain in the EM to get the best humidity to inoculate then in a plastic bag? Thks 🇺🇾

EM is Lactic acid bacteria and molases ? LiKe the LAB impute of the NKF farming and Regenerative farming method?

I know nothing about growing mushrooms so found this very interesting, but my concern is what they are feeding from especially the egg cartons? thanks

Yes you would have to make sure the material is clean of any toxins. Luckily a lot of cardboard & hessian bags have a lot of natural dyes and glues these days. Plus they are made from 100% natural materials, but one does have to take that into consideration for sure. Cheers.

Youre rigth that funghi love acidity but also mold.?or am i wrong? im to always having problems with mold doesn`t matter how clean i work....so youre technic might be worth trying definetly way less energy and work needed. Great work thanks for sharing it.

Sorry it is the lactic acid bacteria that are good at combating molds. I should have mentioned that, but must have lost it in the edit. The high acidity is more the perfect environment for elm oyster mushrooms. That is what we are trying to figure out. So far we know that EM does not hinder the growing of them and after some more trials I would rather have it in there than not. But we are working on a third separate trial now to figure that out.

I'm also a brewer & my left-over grain & fruit after brewing is v acidic. You've given me the idea to try using this with cardboard.. :)
