Yum! That looks amazing! Hats off to you for braving the freezing conditions, including the freezing water to gather the oysters. I love oysters but hate the cold….🙂

Thank you Klara, I didn’t get my feet wet, these oysters were so fat and tasty, some of the largest I have seen. The water was so clean you could see the fish swimming around them before the wind whipped up the surface. We were searching for geocaches, crawling around under a thorny bush and a man came up to ask if I was OK…. Frightened them daylights out of me. I must’ve looked a site, wearing every jacket I own, hat, scarf, gloves and intently watching my phone screen scrambling around under a thick bush with just my Hobbit Boots sticking out. Richo snd Craig we’re off gathering food, oysters and fishing and I was supposed to be getting lunch ready. Luckily they brought it back to camp with them lol. Thanks for watching, I thought of you when we were eating these. Haven’t had a seafood feast since Hervey.😉😋👍

Hi Cheekyricho. Oooh this looks so good. Everything so fresh including the weather. Richo is a brave man, the water's temperature at the surface must've been icy. I'm not a raw oyster fan, I like them cooked through. Personally I would have opted for the Kilpatrick Omelette. The camera angle seemed so different from the usual above. This is great to see you out and about cooking. Looking forward to seeing the trip in the holiday's kitchen. 👍🤤

Thank you John, the wind was so strong it would blown the milk out of your tea lol. We had to build a makeshift wind break around the the stove and the camera out of flammable cardboard solar panel boxes . Don’t try that at home kids 😮 a kilpatrick omelette would have been a nice choice too. I had Worcestershire sauce and bacon. Richo almost had one once in a market in Malaysia. He ordered and paid for it, I had a moderately expensive camera I was filming the cooking with my new duty free camera. A random man started talking to Richo and claimed the omelette hadn’t been paid for demanding it be paid for again, I offered to pay for it again and a large group of his ‘associates’ surrounded me and started to jostle me. We left the omelette and escaped to a Busy McDonalds store and watched as they waited for us outside. It was very confronting and their intentions were obvious and quite dangerous. Ever taken over an hour to eat a Big Mac? Well we did that night, I later learned these thugs were terrorising night market patrons and relieving them of their property, they weren’t working with the stall holders, who were obviously intimidated by them. Long story short….. this was Richo’s long awaited oyster omelette. Lol with the only possible threat being frostbite haha. You know that ‘not eaten Malaysian omelette’ may have never been remained in our memories as vividly as the circumstances that surrounded not eating it.🦹🏻‍♂️ Richo called it his ‘Finally my oyster Omelette’ Funny how Food can evoke memories of travels and the past. There will be a few holiday recipes featuring in coming days or weeks.;-)) thanks for your kind comments!

@@CheekysKitchen Yes the perils of overseas travel and the gangs that pray on tourism. A taxi driver held my fellow cruise members to Ransome in Vanuatu. He wouldn't return them to the desperately waiting to sail ship unless he was paid the sum of $200 American dollars. He only got $50 odd. He scramed as soon as possible. The port authorities were notified by the ships captain. This sort of Malaki goes on all the time. A lucky escape for you..! Well at least Richo got his long awaited omelette. 👍🤤

Wow, I’ve never had trouble in Vanuatu, always found the locals so friendly, gentle and helpful. That must’ve been very scary because a cruise ship won’t wait, they have a schedule to keep. On a cruise around NZ we caught the cruise bus to town in Wellington and we’re returning on the the cruise bus with 2 hours to spare. Richo and I were the only passengers in the bus and she wouldn’t leave until she got more passengers. Only one other passenger joined the bus and we sat in the bus panicking for almost 2 hours, after attempting to leave the bus and get a cab several times the driver told us to wait, we wouldn’t be left behind and she would be leaving shortly. It was torrential rain, they had already started closing the port facilities, they were pulling up the gangway as we boarded and the passengers in the foyer of the ship all looked annoyed and gave us a slow clap as we. Ran inside. Totally not our fault, we were absolutely drenched because the bus couldn’t get close to the ship because they had barricaded the dock. So don’t trust the ship organised transport either. No money dramas involved but it was the start of a long cruise and all our stuff was on board, quite harrowing and even years later I fail to see the funny side, mainly because there isn’t one.🙅🏻🤷🏼‍♂️🤦‍♀️🤦 Yes so you can see why that Oyster Omelette was a milestone to mark the start of our trip. He caught some Whiting which we pan fried in butter, the fish was beautiful but the bones, my goodness, more tine hair like bones than a garfish. Definitely good for someone in on a diet, it’ll take you 2 hours to eat it, our friends had a couple of pieces and decided it was too much work. Lol. That video won’t see the light of day haha. More like torture for a starving person, could be my first Horror 🎥 Film. Haha!

i would be worried that the oysters are not cooked enough, just thinking...how long did they cook for?
@CheekysKitchen
@CheekysKitchen 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback snd question Ron, the Oysters weren’t really cooked at all merely warmed through. They were eaten within 20 minutes of being gathered in the pure Tasmania Tidal river, never even saw the inside of a fridge. Of course if you are not partial to eating raw oysters you would need to cook them for at a few more minutes, with the lid on the cook them through. The egg was cooked and the remaining melted salty butter gave this dish a fantastic finish. The remaining ones were eaten raw, later in the day with glass of white wine, inside the camper out of the wind. They tasted of the sea and the location was just superb. Thanks for watching.;-))
