@WhtMike2006 Agree. I can't think of a better pilot episode to any great TV series than Ozark. Breaking Bad's first episode was kinda boring tbh. The Wire's first episode wasn't a thrill ride or anything. Ozark S1 E1 had you feeling the way you felt in Breaking Bad S5 from 20 minutes into the series. Absolutely phenomenal pilot episode!

The "sinker" was when they throw the old man from the balcony (me & every1 I know had the same reaction😯😲) and that was it hook, line and sinker for me. You need to watch the Netflix German original “Dark”. Its a sci fi time travel story. Incredible with twists and turns you wont see coming. Has an 8.8 on IMDB and I can say I firmly agree with the rating. Well worth the watch and only 3 seasons so its not super time consuming. Please!!!

Loved the reaction!! Can't wait for the rest! A lot of this show is filmed here in Georgia, on Lake Allatoona. When I was 15 (31, now) our family would take our pontoon out on the exact dock you see throughout the season. And the exterior of the grill/ lounge in next episode (different name) is one that has been around here so long, and loved. I've done film work in GA since 2013, and when this started filming, I didn't work on it, or watch it but when my mom saw the first season she LOVED it (knew the locations plus grew up in the actual Ozarks), and told me I had to see it. She was right. It is beyond amazing. Plus, it's always fun to see friends in the BG of the scenes.

Jason Bateman is great in this show. He's best known for comedy but so was Bryan Cranston before he did Breaking Bad and look how well that turned out. This was such a great first episode. I don't know how it couldn't suck you in. And get used to that crippling anxiety. Almost every episode of this show is an emotional roller coaster. It's a fucking wild show. You will not be able to predict this show, don't even try.

The Ozarks cover Southwestern Missouri down into NE Arkansas and are stunning. I was raised directly across from them in SE Missouri, no comparison but where I lived was pretty, too. Lived two miles from Lake Wappapello and we had tourists every summer, too. Honeymooned over at Lake of the Ozarks - it was magical.

Interesting factoid: The filming location actually isn't Lake of the Ozarks; they film it at Lake Allatoona and Lake Lanier in Georgia, north of Atlanta. I live very close to Allatoona. It is one of my camping and kayaking spots. Beautiful place!
