Now, I understand why I like mechanical cable actuated derailleurs and brakes.

We'll have to do a ride sometime in the future on a rail trail, where you can ride the G.1 and I can ride my road bike with rim brakes, cable shifters and Gravel King tires (to help with the gravel riding). I find electronic derailleurs to be a cool thing that gadget freaks may want but don't need. They are not worth the hassle. Maybe I'm just too old to fuss with those things and as they used to say (but maybe not anymore) if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Because they built that disc caliper for a highend carbon fiber road bike frame, they made it as a standard for carbon frame roadbikes. I agree that they should includes a free adapter for a floating mount frame.

The bike is a Post Mount for the brakes. That caliper in the kit you got is the newer-ish Shimano Flat Mount standard. It is not specifically a road bike brake standard. My gravel bike frame and fork take flat mount calipers. I went through a similar experience to you when building my gravel bike, except I was trying to mount post mount calipers to a frame made for flat mount.

I hope this stem works for you. When I started with gravel I thought a positive rise would fix my pain. Little did I know. A: my bars were too wide B: I literally had to drop the stem (remove spacers) and go from 70 mm to an 80 mm stem and have it at a minus 8 angle. Play with the angle of the hoods too. A little inward goes a long way. My longest ride day ride is 325 km and no more pain. 😊

Sometimes these are made so much more complicated than they need to be. Wouldn't it be great to live in a world where shit just worked 😂 Looking forward to seeing what happens next, take care guys 😎👍🍻

When you adjust the hoods, make sure to tilt them up a bit. Just search the internet. Theres tons of places that show the proper angle.

One thing that I have found for comfort on the hoods is to rotate them inward just a bit. At least for me, it makes the wrist slightly more ergonomic. Granted, I am a road cyclist and find flat bars super uncomfortable haha

Watch trace velo, luke have already went through all these issues. After riding this groupset for a few hundred miles, he is still rubbing on the front derailleur. Ltwoo's E GRX is a better choice.

Y'all are FINALLY getting around to doing the second half of this? I've replaced my 2x10 tiagra with SRAM Rival and then put that tiagra set on another bike during the interim. No offense, but y'all are working slow. From what I know, those calipers CAN fit finned shimano brake pads. But I told ya... go with SRAM...

Look up how you reverse wrap. It looks a ton better & no tape. Your bars set in an odd position, but if it works... drop bar noobs 😅😅😅
