Cables are so much simpler, dirt cheap, and stone cold reliable. HOPE YOU'RE DOING WELL, WOLFMAN!

From the bottom of my heart, Jeremiah ... that bike and you: Water and Oil. Some may say that I'm not positive but to me, wireless shifting is like a digital bike stand.

Seems to me the cost and effort is not worth the return when it comes to the electronic shifters. Mechanical shifters are reliable and there are many levels of quality (for those looking for smoothness and precision). They are easy to adjust and maintain and best of all, reliable. I have a set of Ultegra shifters on my 1998 road bike. They still shift smoothly and precisely. I would gain nothing but headaches by switching to electronic shifting. One thing that may make this bike simpler is a 1X conversion with a wide range cassette. That would eliminate the rubbing on the front derailleur. All of that said, this video demonstrates the value of this channel. We can learn what upgrades work and what we should avoid. Electronic shifters get a thumbs down from me. Hope Wolfman is recovering well. Looking forward to seeing him back soon.

Ouch! Reminds me of a horribly neglected 1980's mountain bike. The early days of hyper glide were a nightmare if not religiously maintained. We referred to it as Hyper Skip or Hyper 💩.😂

Also you broke the GOLDEN RULE….ALWAYS TAKE THE REAR DERAILLEUR off the bike and perform a rear derailleur alignment check with an alignment gauge. Bikes leave the Asian factories perfectly (Derailler hangers)…and true. However bicycle boxes sometimes tip over and it’s up to bike shops to fix this or the customer to fix this. If you don’t you are chasing your tail. T.J. Former Bike shop owner, Schwinn warranty and sales employee, and Factory Race Team Mechanic

Is that the Captn' Crunch edition? Awesome video by the way, i have been waiting for this one.

Welcome back Wolfman:) Very cool concept, but the reality makes me wish for old school friction shifters. The placement of the shifters isn't as convenient but less fine tuning. Coming from the mtb world I'm surprised that you avoided jumping a curb, into some grass. I'm more afraid of oncoming traffic than wrecking a rim on a curb. As long as my tires are fully inflated I'm ok with not avoiding small obstacles. Gravel bikes are made to take the straightest line through most terrains:) I think you'd like the granny better on a Shimano MegaRange. It's a freewheel with a 34t granny (so you don't have to change the entire wheel).

It's a shame that the set ups so difficult to get right. I'm sure once you get there it'll be a great group set. Hope Wolfmans doing good, stay safe guys 🍻👍😎

if you had just gotten a nice 1x10-1x12 set up for it youd have much less headaches. Gravel bikes do great with a 1x setup.

That's exactly what I said especially these electronic group sets they do better with 1x drivetrains IMHO ❤

I'll stick with the L-Twoo GR9 1x11 with JuinTech brakes. Call me a curmudgeon but works perfectly and easy to maintain. Great video even if it sounded crunchy

Now, I understand why I like mechanical shifting. I can't see myself dealing with the tuning and programming - and having to do it over when someting goes wrong.

Sometimes, the old mechanical ways are just the best. Tech is cool, but not always better.

Once you use decent electronic shifting you won't wanna go back. I put sram axs on my bike 2 years ago, tuned it day one and haven't touched it since and you can fine tune while riding.

I still think cables are more reliable and cost effective at the moment. That might change as the tech improves and the cost comes down. Talking of derailleur innovations, you should check out Shimano Airlines from 2000 😊

I know the system is designed for front derailleur and rear derailleur bikes the system you got and they also make one for one by drivetrains but it seems like they perform better on 1X drivetrains

Maybe look into a mega range 13-34 shimano freewheel if it's freewheel. Sunrace also makes some larger size freewheels without a large gap which is nice.

Time to convert that to a 1x 12-speed. LTWOO for the win!! LOL

I think you're missing out on how your cockpit is set up, since your drops are useless with that angle. I say roll your bars forward, drops should be horizontal and then move your shifters up, you may need to rewrap your bartape when you move your shifters up.

My bike has all 7 gears out of the box and doesn't need a phone or a battery so IDK. Quieter too.

did you put an aftermarket wireless shifter on it?

Love my Ozark. Switched to the shimano mega range and the running went to shit. Can’t figure out the adjusting. Even took it in and they just blamed the LTWOO. 😅. It still rides great but gears grinding like crazy 🤦🏻♂️

Well now, you're turning into quite the little roadie, pretty soon you'll be wearing jerseys and shorts that are two sizes too small, riding in front of traffic and trying to convince people that humus doesn't taste like kitty litter

Remember Always use the word “Groupo “with Drop bar, road and gravel bikes and the word” group set”On bikes with flat bars, (Mtn, E-bikes, etc. road bikes, handlebars are NOT horns but “rubber hoods” or the new gravel word “BRIFTERS”……brake and sifter combo.

it shouldn't work in the small small or big big, those are called cross chaining. 2x7 is really a 1x3.5 + 1x3.5... 3.5 gears will work with the big ring, 3.5 will work with the small. not all 7 gears should work for each chain ring and if you tune trying to get it to work in 'cross chain' position, that's the issue. imagine riding at the extreme chain angle over a summer bike trip, chain/gears gonna be ruined w/ that kind of distance and cross chaining.
