I got one of these a few months ago, ended up modifying it to something closer to something I'd actually use. Added a bandana, a RAVPower 16750mAh battery with a short little USB-C cable, An actual SAK. A little tiny AM/FM radio. A cheap notebook with a little Dollar Tree pen that's maybe 2" to 2.5" tall (came in a 10 pack... little Halloween gift pack for kids. lol) ... that little 5x7 tarp you can find in the camping section connected to the outside with a carabiner, along with one of those cup style Stanley cook sets on another carabiner... and more fire starting options like a lighter and some rain proof matches. Along with some other small things like a couple of those little expandable towels, a couple of bouillon cubes and a couple of packs of instant coffee. I did remove the shovel, though I've still got it in the back of my car so I can maybe more easily dig myself out of the snow if I need to... and I took that metal whistle and added it to my regular keychain (that has a SAK Mini Champ and a short little USB cable that does USB-A/C and Lightning). Didn't spend any extra money on the additions. Just extra stuff I had laying around. I'm sure someone else who's better at this stuff than I am could've added a lot better... but oh well. hehe *Edit* I just checked and I've got an old gift card wrapped up with (around) 10 feet of Gorilla tape. And once I get 'em when I can think of it I'm gonna add an emergency blanket and an emergency poncho to stick in the pocket in the back of the thing.

I will have to test that. I doubt these scissors will cut much more than paper. They are decent scissors but not for a survival kit.

If they switched the survival card for some detachable needles or fishhooks (and provided some thread). If they got rid of the extra extra whistle for a signaling mirror. If they switched the scissors for a semi decent compass. Then it would be worth much more than it is. Then again, you can always buy it and make the modifications yourself.

A survival kit without a 1st aid kit, is not a survival kit. There is also no extra space in the bag to add your own 1st aid kit. Not worth $30. @LisaTurner-d1b2 ай бұрын
@@AtwoodThreads I think not only that you are wrong but the individual you are replying to.. Dead wrong. First lets start off with the fact you forgot as everyone else has is the presence of Molle straps on the pack. Then the one thing everyone makes fun of is the little water bottle holder. I use these to carry empty 1 liter bottles. I also use one for a trot line. I can throw my trot line into the water then proceed to set up my camp. It's fishing while I'm doing something else. By doing this I have maximized my time and calorie usage. Using a trot line allows me to fish and forage, collect wood, treat water or just relax at the same time. Just to be up front I bought 2 more of these bags after the first one. People knock on the shovel. First of the shovel while it may look useless has the following: A compass in the base. A hollow handle capable of storage. The ability to saw a small branch, dig, dig a trench ,slash, chop and as a weapon against both 4 and 2 legged creatures. Of course there is still room in the shovels pouch to carry small items. So the included shovel has 10 uses which more than meets my requirements that anything going into my pack/s must have a minimum of 3 functions. People look at Ozark Trail and think it is just cheap junk based on the price. If the price on this kit was $125 people would be raving about how great this kit is especially since it has Molle on the outside to carry things like a flashlight. As to those who think $30 is too much I have to ask you if your life is worth $30. I ask this because the ferro rod and waved jute which easily takes a spark allows you to have a fire. Now I do have a bone to pick with everyone who talks about their kits. I have yet to see a video where anyone includes a whetstone. How in the world can anyone go into the woods, jungle or desert with a knife and not have the ability to sharpen that knife. Folks put a whetstone in your pack if you are carrying any type of blade. I also see a failure of many to not include a sewing kit.. You may need to close a laceration yourself and without superglue you will need to sew it up. I've heard that dental floss is the best due to its strength if you are sewing yourself up but if that is not available then some thread from your sewing kit will do. There is also an easter egg with this kit that few have discovered. Look hard and tell me if you have found it.
