You're pretty spot on with your first assumptions! This song is about Hennings wish to forget about his past, to put an ocean between himself and his past (past means "Vergangenheit" in german). I really like your reactions to AMK and your intuitive grasp of their music and I'm impressed how well you pronounce german words 👍

So happy I found this channel! I’m a fellow AMK fan from America that doesn’t know German 😅 but this band’s music is so beautiful and captivating that it’s inspired me to try to learn German! Currently on week 8 of Duolingo..wish me luck 😂

I am on 154 day streak of Duolingo for the same reason. Never expected German to be so close to English(not my native either). Who had thought that I would enjoy so much learning it! And AMK killed all other groups for me♥. What can be a bigger recognition than fans learning your language.

I always thought, when people, especially americans, talk about the harsh and aggressive german language: 'You should listen to someone who sings in german (and not Rammstein or Rap music) and you will get a totally different impression of our language.' Nice that you came to the same impression now 😉

I spent 60 years thinking that German was a harsh, and sometimes unpleasant, language. Then I heard Henning sing 'Du Bist Anders ', and I realized that I was a stupid American who desperately needed to learn German, if only to find out what broke his little heart !

Really enjoy your reactions :D and yeah, German isn't always harsh and aggressive sounding - US-Americans tend to think so a lot, because the only German they ever hear is by baddies in movies/Rammstein/certain historical figures from the 30s-40s Thanks for being so open and appreciative of annenmaykantereits music despite not knowing the language! It's always fun seeing people discover this gem of a band! Edit: your pronunciation is pretty spot on!

About the shout. I always do understand "zu laut" meaning "to loud". Because he's playing at the night in a nighborhood, what is clearly forbidden. No loud noises after 10 pm in Germany so everyone can rest. He smiles and goes even louder and louder, searching for a new response.
