It was an original Acapella by Suzanne written in 1981, released in 1984, then 1987, 1988, then by British group DNA in 1990, then used in the development of the MP3 which earned Suzanne Vega the title of “Mother of the MP3”. So it will probably be famous forever. AnnenMayKantereit x Giant Rooks are the latest ones to use it. So far. I think. I just discovered this song today and I really like it so I looked up some of the info.

AMK started with street music so Henning's voice had to sort of get so powerful to be heard in places with a lot of people, cars driving by etc. and they often just did videos out in the woods or abandoned buildings to use the natural acoustics. I think you can see that they just really love making music.

Two Indie German bands AnnenMayKantereit (the surnames of the founding members joined together) and Giant Rooks. I remember the original by Susanne Vega and the song was catchy but not my cup of tea. BTW the original is much longer and is the story of Susanne (I guess) in a diner and the interaction of the guy behind the counter and a girl who came in. The video is outstanding as is the collaboration of the two bands which as far as I'm aware is the only time this happened. Oddly the video is about 3-4 years old but it's only now that it's had recognition.

I just saw your channel looking for the reactions to this Cover. And so was my reaction when I first heard this music. It was like today, Saturday, listening to TikTok and it appeared, I searched on KZbin to listen to them in full, I downloaded the music and I listen to it almost every day. These are actually two german bands. In the first room are the members of Annenmaykantereit and then comes together with the members of Giant Rooks in the second room. Henning May, the second singer with the raspy voice is the lead singer of Annenmaykantereit. The other one is Frederik Rabe from Giant Rooks.
